Doesn't work as advertised.
I have a room where hot air cannot be exhausted, so an llA/C unit is not an option to cool the room. I received this swamp cooler yesterday and set it up this morning. This unit is in a 7 foot X 7 foot room with a 7 foot ceiling. I filled the reservoir with very cold water from my water well and turned it on, as according to the instructions. After 2 hours of operation, the temperature didn't drop 1 degree. IMHO, the advertising is misleading. According to the advertising, the temperature should have dropped at least 10 degrees. I was hopeful that this product would cool the room a little, but that didn't happen. I'm returning the "cooler" and will have to find another solution. ... show more

IT WORKS!
Surprisingly very good at cooling even at the lowest settings and you also have lots of options like the the automatic sweep option, and the natural on and off breeze mode. Uses very little energy to operate. The freezer packs work great, just place them in the tray fill it up with water and turn it on, select cool. I didn't try using ice yet but you can use other freezer packs and maybe frozen water bottles, whatever will fit. Great for small rooms or areas that occasionally need cooling. ... show more

Waste of money, no better than a large fan
Review Image by Katie Charb Katie Charb
Worst purchase I’ve made in a while. If you want to spend $150 for a glorified fan that can’t even cool down a small upstairs room then go for it. But I bought a window AC for the same price which now has my room cool in 30 mins. I would let the portable run for hours on cool and it barely did anything. Complete waste of money, do yourself a favor and just get a window unit. What a waste of money, would not recommend. ... show more

good product for its price
Nice product and the website description is very accurate. However, it really does not cool very much, unless perhaps you are in a dry desert. With a fully loaded tray of very cold ice water, it cools the nearby air 5+ degrees at most. It's definitely not a replacement for air conditioning, but it's a good product for its price. ... show more

Not an Air Conditioner
This thing is not an air conditioner. I loaded it up with fresh ice packs, actual ice, and cold water and it barely makes a difference. It is however more effective than my humidifier when it comes to adding moisture to the air. I have a thermometer in my room that measures the temperature as well as the humidity so I can see that it has very little (if any) effect on the temperature of my room but it does effectively add moisture to the air. It makes a good fan but for the price is really isn't worth it. ... show more
