I am so excited about this Japanese knife set! The value for money is exceptional - these high quality knives are surprisingly affordable . The look of the knives is stunning and absolutely gorgeous rosewood handles that add a touch of elegance to my kitchen. The wooden storage block is just as beautiful and keeps my countertops organized . When I'm using the knives the grip on each one is comfortable and secure, making it easy to maneuver and control. The balance of the knives is perfect, feeling substantial without being too heavy . The size of the knives is just perfect - the chef's knife is versatile, the santoku is perfect for chopping veggies, and the nakiri is great for precise cuts. The fruit knife is also handy for smaller tasks . The blade thickness is very impressive, with a good balance between sharpness and durability. The media could not be loaded. These were super sharp when they came initially but did not last long at all. They dulled fairly fast and a chip of metal broke off from the blade. Seller was fast & helpful and sent new set back but now blade is coming loose from handle on 2nd set. Not safe. We wash all our knives by hand. Not sure what to do now Since we are out of the return window.

These are obviously not the nicest knives money can buy, but for the price, I think it's a pretty good value. They are sharp and have held an edge fine for the first few months of use so far, although I don't cut a ton so your results may vary. There is a very small visible gap between the knife and the bolster where the tang wasn't fully seated in the bolster, and I am not a huge fan of the way the black texturing follows the back of the knife all the way down to the tip. Both things I'm willing to overlook when you consider the knives are less than $40 each in this package. My only real complaint and reason for deducting a star is that the paring knife has a bit of glue on the bolster that must have leaked out when they pushed the knife into the handle, it is a very thin layer and doesn't affect the function at all, but it is visible and doesn't look very nice when you closely inspect the knife, I definitely should have asked for a replacement but was just too lazy to deal with it and the knife still works at the end of the day.
