Arrived in timely manner. Polished brass to a mirror finish with high speed dremel and buffing pad. Seller should update description. This is more of a rouge than a buffing compound. It is very hard, whereas a compound is expected to be soft. I saw many complaints on Amazon, and imagine that most are a result of this confusion. I got this and first thought it had gone bad because it was so dried up and had no lid. I tried using a dremel, but it turned my silver black and didn't really put a shine on it. Then I read the directions which state to "apply a cloth to it and use a tiny amount" I did this and hand rubbed the item and HOLY COW. I could see myself in that ring! ... show more

I am a lapidary artist and silversmith, and this stuff is INVALUABLE for polishing cabochons made of gemstones. I thought you had to buy all kinds of expensive diamond grit paste to get a high sheen, but not with this! I have saved a ton of money and time using this instead of all the fancy, expensive diamond grits. In fact, this polishes better than the 50K or 100k diamond grit. I heard about someone using this on a leather strop for sharpening woodcarving knives so I tried it and was very pleasantly surprised with the results. Just a few draws of the knife on the strop and I ended up with a very sharp polished blade. I have been using a white compound stick which worked well but not as well as this stuff seems to work. ... show more
