This is the best looking dog crate I found and trust me I looked through allllll the high end dog crates none looked like modern furniture like this. Its very high quality material. The only thing thats annoying is why do they have to put the brand name on the side of the crate???? You'd think that for the price they wouldn't slap their brand name on the side. It just is kindof annoying. If you have high end furniture in your house it just seems tacky in my opinion! Also why couldn't I get the clear acrylic front on amazon?? I was going to purchase this directly from their website because they had a sale and didn't want to risk not being able to return such an expensive item so I ordered full price from amazon with the white front. I really wanted the clear. Im still very happy with the crate.

So, it took a month to set my crate up, because I was unlucky and one of the side panels was cut incorrectly, and I was unable to finish set up. Fable customer support was helpful, but it took some time to get my panel. I had to reach out once or twice, I can't remember. But, in the end it took about a month to receive my panel replacement, which was a major annoyance, since the unfinished crate was taking up a lot of space. Now, once the correct panel did arrive, set up was complete in like 10 minutes. I did notice a few nicks in the paintwork on the top area of the sliding door. I didn't even think to check that, but at that point everything was already screwed together, and I just wanted to be done with it. I'll just have to deal with the nicks. But, I have to say, that's really disappointing for such an expensive crate! Did my dog like it? Yep. My dog went into it right away, and it's been my 75 lb English bulldog's sleeping bed since then. So, at the end of the day, even though it took way too long for my replacement panel to come, I'm happy with my crate because my dog likes it. The design is awesome, and it looks beautiful in my living room, where it doubles as a side table for my couch. Final thoughts. The whole experience did sour how I felt about Fable products though. I do love their design style, and most of their products seem worth their higher price. But, I'm wary about buying anything big from them again. I was planning on getting my dogs matching crates since they're litter mates and like all the same things. But, I'm looking at different options right now since I'm a little scared if I order another one, the same thing of getting a poorly cut piece would happen. I'm not keen of waiting a month for a replacement again. For this crate, I feel like for the price, the quality control should be top notch. The miscut panel I received was easily spotted by me as soon as I took it out of the package, so it should have been caught immediately by whoever was responsible for quality control over there (if one is even used, that is).

This is a large, beautiful crate that is unlike any other I've ever seen in pet stores. Most are made of either metal or plastic, and have a less aesthetically pleasing appearance. I've looked into the crates that also double as furniture, which seems like they may work well for smaller dogs or cats, but not really a good choice for our dog who's a bit larger. Up to this point, I just had just been using a metal crate in the den, with a fabric over over it to try and help it blend in. The problem was all our furniture is oak and the carpeting is a sage green color. So the metal crate, with the grey patterned cover doesn't really blend in. So this Fable wooden crate is a beautiful upgrade. This Fable crate isn't cheap that's for sure, however even the "cheap" crates aren't cheap. The larger ones are all over a hundred dollars, and that's before ordering any kind of accessories to make them look nicer. I spent hundreds on the metal crate, cover and matching bed that I had purchased to try and make it look nice. And it's not even close to as good looking as the wooden Fable crates. The wood is heavy duty, and the door has a great design where instead of swinging open, it slides out and up into the top of the crate. This is perfect for those times when you want to leave the door open for your pet to go in and out on their own. They aren't warry of a door swinging closed on them, since they can't even see the door. The handcrafted wood design is furniture quality, which would also account for the higher than average cost for a crate. Unlike particle board furniture that can be ordered online which also costs hundreds, this is real wood and you'll be able to tell before you even pull it out of the package with the very heavy weight of it. Something to also consider if you are ordering the larger of the two crates. The box is huge and heavy, and you'll want help moving it around. The only downside at all I can find to this type of crate is just like the large plastic ones, the door is designed to be opened from just one end. With the metal crates they often have the option to open from the side as well, so you can place the crate sideways in a room. So how you have your room set up can be a factor with the crates positioning. Overall I'm delighted with the design, quality and appearance of this Fable crate. The real wood is so much nicer in our den compared to the meal crate and I love the way the door slides into the top. I've noticed my dog more often goes into the crate on his own to relax, since he's not nervous about the door closing behind him. When he can't see it, it doesn't bother him. Very nice!
