The light itself is motion censored, so if you’re walking in and out of the kitchen, the lights do go on and off, which is a real nice ambience especially at night. I bought one of these for my bathroom to check it out. It's in a half-bath with no windows. I have it set on the dimmest setting for the dark room so I don't blind myself in the middle of the night. It comes on via motion detector every time I go into the room. The single charge lasted just over a year. Even with the CONS, I still bought 2 more after testing it for about 9 months. PROS: - The charge last a long time. Of course, this depends on the light level you have it set to. - The body is magnetic that comes with a metal strip. But you can also attach it to a refrigerator or anything metal. You can also pop the hood of your car and it will stick to the bottom of it if you need to work on your car. There are tons of uses for this because it's magnetic. - The battery pack is detachable for easy charging. Or you can use it as a corded light since the USB connector is on the end. CONS: - To change the different functions, you touch the base near the motion detector. It's hard to figure out what setting it's on when setting it up... or if you accidentally touch it. Initially, I thought the detachable charging portion would be handy, but it really isn't. I have other chargeable lights where the whole units needs to be remove to be charged and they actually may be easier to deal with than this one where it is detached & re-attached to charge. I have noticed that the motion sensor is not all inclusive, so that you sort of have to be in certain random angles for it to sense you and turn on. The brightness has limited settings and I wish that it could be set lower as a night light and brighter when wanting to work under it. Last item for note is that the metal strip that adheres to the mounting surface is less than half the length of the unit; this if fine if you do not want to adjust the settings, but as soon as you touch the button to make a setting change the whole unit rocks and moves as it sits a smidge above the mounting surface. ... show more

i have several of these lights around my home and they work well. the sensor on the light bar doesn't work all the time but if that happens, i recommend just removing the battery pack if you are needing the light to turn off. The charge lasts a good while and the battery only takes a few hrs to charge up. you will know when the battery needs charging because the light will be dim ... show more

I was really pleased with this light at first. It's thin so not obtrusive under the counter. It does what I wanted: turns on when I come up to the counter and turns off when I move away. My only issue with it is the light isn't as bright as it was when first installed. I tried charging it, but that didn't seem to make any difference in the light intensity. So that's disappointing. It's never on for very long so I really haven't had to charge it yet. I only tried recharging to see if that would restore its original brightness.
