  • Works great!
I have two Australian Shepherd and one in an escape artist! She will climb a 4' fence, find a hole and squeeze through or swim a pond. We trained just like the instructions said with just the beep when we got close with the leashed dogs we ran away for about 12-15 times, changed to the next setting of 1 and did the same. We increased until we got to 4 and that's where it starting working without us leading the dogs away. Two of us, one day of training of about 45 minutes with both dogs at the same time. A few extra times of us crossing the field and sitting down (which Aussies cant resist), they crossed, were zapped and they turned back. Its been a month+ and they haven't tested it since the first day. We only used it to protect half way up the driveway because of an electric gate opener and a walk through gate. It is a long oval area. I did flag the area for a visual for the dogs to recognize and will remove them in the spring when its time to mow. They stay at least 20-30 feet away at all times. We buried it under the ground about 4 inches and used a conduit under just the driveway. We put the unit in a shop 50-70 feet away. The beep doesn't go off until the dogs are about 3' from the wire which I wish were more like 10 but like I said they don't even get that close to it. I did drive the dogs over the wire and it did not beep or zap the first time but did beep and possibly zapped the 2nd. I now just remove the collar when I take them out. Both of the collars are starting to fray (probably from lots of dog play) so I will be buying new ones very soon. I expect no issues putting the transmitter on a new collar. I will also be buying new dog tags that slide onto the collar in lieu of the dangling one to eliminate the noise of the tag hitting the transmitter. I currently do not use the rubber bumpers over the prongs since they don't seem uncomfortable and worry about the rubber rubbing the dog hair off (if thats even possible). One transmitter has been in the pond at least 2-3 times daily for a month+ and still good. Just an unrelated note. We did not want the extra work of somehow installing this over the pond. We installed cattle panels on T-posts in the pond as far as we could, they attach to the fence that butts up to the pond on both ends, but the remaining 75' of open water in the middle still posed a problem. The Fix: Poly rope tied to the cattle panels on each end that had been threaded through pool noodles. We put one T-post in the middle keeping the roped noodles out into the pond as opposed to it drifting into the shallow bank and keeping it taut. She either has to duck her head underwater or somehow get her legs over the noodles. She just sees it as an impassable barrier so its been working for the last month. We will need to lower or raise the rope as the water level changes. I cannot see any danger of drowning with this set up. ... show more

  • Waterproof and instantly effective.
The media could not be loaded. This worked for me right away. It made me sad to see the boys get their first shock but it only took once. I tried the training but only 1 of the 2 dogs will walk on a leash so after a little training with 1 I set the collars to 3 and let them figure it out for themselves which worked just fine. Installation is easy but tedious if you're putting it underground. If i had to do it again I would rent a tiller. I have about a 1/2 acre perimeter that I did with a flat hoe. It still isn't done but the fence works and I can get to it later. The collars are completely waterproof as advertised. I have a small waterway that they love to swim and play in and the collars have been wet for long stretches with no problems. THE METAL PRONGS ARENT SUPPOSED TO RETRACT! I saw the only 1 star review left was because the buyer thought the prongs retract and drove them into their poor dogs neck causing an infection. The prongs have to lay at an angle to the dogs neck. It won't sit upright and also won't stay in place at the back of their necks. As soon as they shake it rests only the lower sides. There are included little rubber caps to cover the metal prongs for comfort but the zap doesn't go through them. I believe these are for once they stay put for the beeps only. I also modified the collars by wrapping the sensor in some thick denim. The dogs like to wrestle and chew on anything they can so I put the collars on snugly and covered the sensors, so far so good. Its been great not worrying if they are out in the street. ... show more

  • This fence works!
My husband and I have used an Innotek fence for 5-6 years with only minor problems (breaks in the fence that we have been able to find and repair). Suddenly one of our 2 collars stopped working, however, and we realized that Innotek was no longer in business, and no other systems were compatible with that collar. So, to simply replace a collar we actually had to buy a whole new system with 2 collars. Tried PetSafe Stubborn Dog fence first - and could not get it to operate correctly. Would work for an hour then say "Break in Fence". This happened over and over for 48 hours - until my husband said "Send it back and get one made in the USA"! We did, and bought this brand instead - and have had smooth sailing for nearly two weeks! Worth the extra money because it works correctly! ... show more

  • So far, so good.
I installed this system a little over two months ago for my two dogs (8lb yorkipoo & 60lb Pitt). So far it has been doing its job well! PROS: 1. Each collar can have it's own shock level, so I can set it at level 3 for my little one and level 6 for the big fella. 2. You can change the shock area (but has to be same for both dogs) so for example, because the Pitt will try to run through it sometimes, I have the shock area set up to about 3 feet of shock before it stops if he runs straight through. This helps him come back in the safe area before learning that the shock will stop if he keeps going. 3. Easy to install yourself (I recommend having a couple people help, it gets exhausting hurrying the wire after a while). CONS: 1. Programming it for the first time is a pain!! The directions are very difficult to follow. Wish it just had dials versus the one screen. I haven't had to change batteries yet, but will update when I do as I see some reviews said batteries from anyone other than this company don't fit. ... show more

  • Very disappointed
Very disappointed. After we went to the trouble to install the fence and the electronics, the dog collars only worked for less than 2 months. Both collars because we have 2 dogs. I could have sworn that I bought insurance, but it appears I did not which means I am out over $400.00. I am left with a system that does not work. Again, I am very disappointed. ... show more
