I needed an extra-firm foam mattress and started searching on Amazon. This UniPon model is actually a hybrid, meaning it combines both foam and coils. I ultimately chose it because it was advertised as extra-firm, had relatively high reviews, and came at a great price. I absolutely love this mattress for its firmness! My only regret is going with the 14-inch height. When combined with our box spring, it makes the bed incredibly high—my granddaughter literally needs a step stool to get into it. Wow! This mattress is very comfortable. Medium firm. Definitely relieves some of my pressure points. Took a few nights to get used to the mattress since my last one was pillow top and 11 years old. Stuff back knee pain and hip pain gone.

So, here’s my honest take after sleeping on this mattress. Because it’s 14 inches thick, you really don’t need a box spring unless you prefer a higher bed—which could be a consideration if you’re on the shorter side. Also, you’ll want stretchy queen-size sheets that can accommodate the depth, or consider king-size sheets if you want more coverage. As far as comfort goes, the firmness is perfect for us. It provides the support we were looking for without being uncomfortably hard. However, the biggest downside for me is motion transfer. This mattress has a noticeable bounce, so when my partner moves or gets out of bed, I can feel it. If you’re someone who is a light sleeper or specifically shopping for a mattress with excellent motion isolation, this is something I would seriously consider before purchasing. Honestly, the motion transfer was almost a deal breaker for me. I decided not to go through the hassle of returning such a large mattress, especially since we really do like the firmness and overall comfort. For that reason, I’m giving it 3 stars. The comfort and firmness are great, but the bouncing and lack of motion isolation are a significant drawback for couples. I’ll update my review with photos soon! ... show more
