I purchased this unit as an alternative to simply tossing away all my nostalgic old cassette tapes. But this small item turned out to be a surprisingly nice stereo CD/cassette/radio player. First of all, the unit is extremely compact, not much bigger across than a CD. This is a very desirable feature wherever space is at a premium. Secondly, it has a well-made, quality feel to it. The cassette press-buttons seem solid. Both the cassette door and the CD door have movement dampers that provide a very nice elegance not expected in an item of this moderate price. Thirdly, the AM/FM radio has digital tuner, so stations can by locked in with precision. And FM reception is unexpectedly good, at least in my hilly area. Finally, the speaker sound is quite good -- not state-of-the-art, mind you, but definitely satisfactory for a unit of this size. I noticed a slight raspiness at high frequencies on my old cassettes; probably because this player apparently does not have the old Dolby noise-reduction technology. I performed a direct one-on-one sound comparison with my Bose Wave Radio, using Bose's demonstration CD. The Bose sounds better, as expected, but of course at about 6 times the cost of this little unit. The headphone jack is a nice feature, and stereo sound through headphones is excellent! The remote works well, too (but you can't operate cassette functions with the remote). In sum, if you purchase this player without having unrealistically high expectations, you will be happily satisfied with its performance. It is well-designed and has a lot going for it.

I hadn't had to get a new music player in a while, but I wanted something that did the 3 things my last one did: CDs, cassette tapes, radio. The last one just died of old age. And I didn't want to spend too much money. This one fits what I wanted. Call me a stubborn GenXer, but I own hundreds of CDs, and I see no reason to let go of them. They're in good condition so I'm going to keep playing them. I own them - unlike downloads, which can be lost into thin air, I can download & copy my CDs. I can record them onto cassettes. All I need is one of these devices. So this is a bargain! It allows me to enjoy the thousands of dollars in music I've accumulated over the years, listen to the radio, listen to cassettes I made decades ago, and who doesn't like saving money on not replacing what they already have? So far the sound quality is excellent. Its compact size is perfect, the digital interface is helpful, and it hasn't "eaten" one 30+ year old cassette yet! This player seems equal in quality to the one I just replaced after decades of use, so I'm hoping this is the last one I have to buy. If there's anything negative I'd have to say about it, FFWD & RWD for cassettes is VERY slow, but I've come to expect that of more modern devices - younger generations of manufacturers don't seem to understand why we'd want to skip to the next song or replay a song on a cassette - for the same reason you do it on streaming music - d'uh! Thank goodness being GenX comes with some patience.

It has no volume. Perhaps in a small room it might be ok but if you were to bring it outside, you would barely hear it from 30 feet away. Also found the CD cuts out periodically. Too late to return by the time I found this out.

Light weight boom box. Sound is ok considering the size and price. MOST IMPORTANT thing is you have to use the function button to power it on. I spent 15 minutes looking for a power button.

I needed a tape player and almost spent way more on a big boombox. This does everything and it hardly takes up any space at all. I wasn't sure about the sound quality at first but after breaking in the speakers for a couple days it really does sound nice. Definitely not what you want if you need big thumping bass, but that's not what it's made for.
