This is a great replacement for the standard eye cup. Some users have noted that the stock cup has shallower eye relief (how much the cup sticks out from the plane of the EVF). This cup has almost twice the eye relief which is nice for blocking light entering from the side. You can push the eye cup all the way against your face without your eyelashes touching the EVF. The silicone is nice and soft - very comfortable.

While the intended purpose of this is to provide better shade for the viewfinder, it also provided a surprising secondary benefit. If you are left-eye dominant like me, then you know the struggle of having to use a camera with your nose pressed against the back of the camera, which can also make accessing some of the rear buttons somewhat awkward. This eye cup provides some added distance from the viewfinder, which means your nose is also farther away from the back of the camera, so no more pressing your nose on the LCD and the overall access to buttons is a bit easier. For that feature alone, it's worth purchasing.

Good: It is much softer and more accommodating than the original eyepiece, especially if you wear glasses. Bad: It is also easier to damage, especially when installing. Good: It projects outward from the body more than the original, so you will get less sweat or makeup on the camera screen. Bad: This means that it adds to the camera's profile, and while it can be pushed in/down, see above re: damage.

Not sure why a few people said this eye piece is uncomfortable. IT isn't. While it is not as soft of rubber )likely not silicone) it is plenty comfy and blocks out light, which is the point. The fit is perfect and fits exactly like the OEM piece. The only improvement would actually be to have it made form silicone. Softer and will not degrade. Great value though.

Item was delivered the 2nd of May. After using this on my camera for the past month, half of the eye cup is pulling off of the plastic connection. The item has been amazing keeping the sun out of my eye while using the viewfinder. But, the original eye piece that came with the camera has lasted 5 years without issue and this one lasted barely one month and is a newer product.
