I bought this roman shade in the red to replace the existing roman shade in my kitchen. I was very pleased. Only thing is I wish they added a second layer to this shade like my old one had. You had the option of pulling down the room darkening layer and keep the light filtering layer down to give some privacy during daylight hours. You also had the option of keeping both layers up. I had bought my existing roman shades through J.C. Penney years ago, but they no longer sell the two-layer options. I'm over all pleased with the look and the density of the fabric used. I purchased four of these for my sons’ rooms. They do a good job blocking the light in their east facing windows, but the seams are perforated and let in a lot of light there. I knew that was a possibility from previous reviews and purchased anyway because I just wanted my kids to be able to sleep later, but not sleep the entire morning away. I got these for a good price and I feel the price was appropriate for the quality. Installation was easy (I did an outside mount). They do rise unevenly sometimes, but that may be due to the operators. We are several months in, and they have survived unscathed being manhandled by a 12 y/o and 7 y/o boy. One thing that is odd is one of the four shades is able to slide out of place down the track and I have to slide it back into place. This probably wouldn’t happen with an inside mount though. This is no way a criticism of the shade itself, but if you are considering this for someone under 5 feet, he/she may not be able to reach the blind to pull it back down. I probably would have gone with a different shade for my 7 y/o if I had thought about having to pull them back down for him every time. The kids and I are all happy with the shades and I only knocked off one star due to the seams. ... show more

Very nice quality. Moves smoothly. Love the Cordless. I actually need 6 more but have to purchase in increments. Wish it came in 72 inch but since we never pull them all the way down I guess it's no big deal.

    • Nearly impossible to mount from the top

The shades themselves are as advertised and a good value. However, they come with the worst ever brackets that are almost impossible to hang because the bracket designer idiotically failed to consider that it would be held in place with screws. The brackets have a plastic spring-loaded piece that must be slid back and then popped in to place to hold the shade - but the screws go underneath this plastic piece and once you install the bracket, it's nearly impossible to move this plastic piece because the screw head is in the way. Don't even try with the provided screws, as their heads are both too deep to allow the plastic to slide and too large in diameter to get through the screw hole in the plastic without damage. I had to get another set of screws with heads of smaller diameter and depth, plus some help, and only after multiple tries and much cursing were two of us able to get the shades installed. I had given up and was ready to return these because we couldn't get the brackets to work, but after one more try with multiple flat blade screwdrivers to press in on the plastic slider piece, we finally got the brackets to click in place. ... show more

I read the reviews and took the chance and ordered the shades. Installation time, including removing the old blinds, approximately 45 minutes. Some other reviewers mentioned the screws. I do have to admit, if you are hanging them from the ceiling or inside the top of the window frame, you will want to get smaller head screws so the shades can "snap in" to the mounts easier. My old blinds had smaller screws, so I reused a few of those. The supplied screws are not high quality, I broke a head off one after predrilling a pilot hole. Not all was lost as there was enough broken screw sticking out to back out the broken screw with pliers. Other reviewers complained about wrinkles, well yes, they are wrinkled. If it bothered me enough, I would either steam them or iron them, I figure they will eventually straighten out. I am not sure about the "sheerness" star rating. I rated "sheerness" at 1 star because you really can not see through them and light does not come through either. The shades are a roll up type with a Roman shade front, these are cordless. I am very pleased and would consider buying more of these shades. ... show more
