I purchased the 3wt reel. Advertised as 'pre-loaded' but the reel came empty; however, fly line and backing was included in the packaging. Spooling a fly reel isn't very hard at all... Considering that I only paid $48 for this reel, I'm blown away by the quality. Spins smooth, comes with decent line, and acceptable backing. The backing frays pretty easily when not knotted-up, but seems strong and supple. I was concerned at first glance about the fly line, because the sheen it had on it made me think it would hold memory and come off the reel in a spring shape, however, I was pleasantly surprised. Decent, smooth, floating, supple fly line. The reel itself is nicely machined aluminum, well-balanced, with a smooth drag. No manufacturing marks, shaving left behind etc. My reel came LEFT HAND-RETRIEVE. (Reel knob on the left) Which is how I reel, so it was perfect. There does not appear to be a way to reverse this. The one con to a cheaper reel is that, although the drag is very smooth, the "clicks" on the adjustment reel are pretty far apart, so you cannot fine-tune your drag very well. However, with the 3wt, you won't need to be too specific with your drag, just keep it loose enough so that your reel doesn't over spool when stripping line. ... show more

Really great product for the price. Been looking for a new reel for a little while now but couldn't stand trying to buy a new reel for 200-500$. Found this one. I got the 8w line. With the chromium look. Came super fast and super easy to set up. The reverse drag is awesome. You can be left-handed or right and be able to use this. The drag itself is super smooth. Casting hasn't been this easy in a while. If you need a nice reel for a cheap price, look no more. This reel is amazing! ... show more

Using for saltwater fishing for bonefish. just make sure you soak it in distilled water afterwards to remove any salt. But works flawlessly and comes mounted with line already on it, Just add Tippet and a fly

On the outside, it looks pretty good. The drag was haphazard at best. It would losen at times and tighten all by itself at times. If they had a 0 star this reel would get that. It has a good feel until you feel how poorly the drag works. It pulses which cost me a few big fish. When you strip line it feels like it’s wedging line stacked to tall on the spool but it’s just the crappy drag system.
