  • Wow.
As someone who found out on her own that her suspicions of her husband’s activities were true, this story told through the letters of two spouses who go through something similar really struck a chord with me. The thing that caught me the most was the comfort they found in one another because they could understand how each other felt. What an incredible journey to read through. Highly recommend this book! ... show more

  • Loved this format.
Carrie discovers her husband's affair after finding letters to him written by another woman, who is also married. Carrie reached out to David, the other woman's husband, to share the news. This decision Carrie makes will change many lives. This story is told through the letters written between Carrie and David, and dives into the complex nature of the heart. I loved how this story was set in the 70s when people didn't have as many distractions in their lives. I also loved how there is almost something healing to this story, with Carrie and David communicating. I had a few ways in mind that this story could end with, but the ending was unexpected, only as TJR can do. So many feelings packed into such a short story. I'm pretty sure this book just proves that she can write anything and I'll read it. Same goes for Julia Whelan. I definitely want a sequel, even though I know TJR has no plans to write in the future. A girl can dream. The narration was amazing! If you've been following me for some time now, you know how I feel about Queen Julia. George, James, and Dara are all new to me, but I wouldn't hesitate picking up one of their other narrations. Plus, I'm a sucker for anything with a full cast. THIS BOOK IS FOR YOU IF: You enjoy books written in alternate formats, love complex, short stories, and want something you can read in one sitting. ... show more

  • quick read to a weak ending
I wanted a quick read and this served its purpose. All throughout this short story I came up with so many endings of where this book was going to land. It came up really, really short. Great author, still one of my favorites.

  • A phenomenal, short read.
Wow. This tiny book packed a BIG punch. An affair between two people, that brought their partners together. Trauma bonded for life and an ending result that was not expected. I loved this read. The emotions, the truths, the lies, the affair, the love, and the ending. David and Carrie find comfort in each other while their partners are having an affair. I loved how they could help each other through something so devastating. They help each other find themselves again, find a way to get through this situation together and finding their way back to their life before the affair. I wish there was an epilogue so I can find out what David’s response to Carrie’s last letter was. Does he write back? Does he change his course because of the information that Carrie’s last letter contains? I have questions, and even if they aren’t answered, I still enjoyed this book, a lot. ... show more

  • definitely worth the listen!
I listened to this at work and was filled with nothing but gasps and shock, so much so that I had a co worker constantly asking, what happened now?? Such a good listen!

  • An Engaging, Fascinating Short Story
My father once said, "Finding a good book is like finding a good friend." And with this beautiful and heartfelt short story, I knew exactly what he meant. I looked forward to picking up from where I left off and enveloping myself back into the world of Carrie and David. It's a very classy short story. Highly recommendable for those wishing to step away from this mad, mad world and return to grace. ... show more

  • 3.5 - Not what I thought
It was an okay read. Short and simple. Had a somewhat happy ending to it but I always find it hard when someone cheats and the other person stays.
