The current reviews didn’t have any photos so it was hard to envision what this would look like. It is a large sized foamy pad that is very wet -almost goopy. I put it on my son and he said it felt good, no stinging or burning. He said it felt cool and comfortable and has not complained about itching or pain for hours. I used a loose ace bandage to keep it in place. Cannot comment yet on long term results but this was the best alternative to any of the Hydro gel bandages that all have adhesive around the edges or require tape - which defeats the purpose of putting it on a larger area like a sunburn. Price is high but given the relief I will re-order. I do believe you could cut these if you needed a smaller piece and clip the package up to ensure it doesn’t dry out. Also if using for an area that is not a sunburn a piece of light gauze with some paper tape would probably secure it. Just be aware that it is very wet which creates weight so gravity will do its thing.

I very much appreciate not having to make a trip to the ER (again) due to a 2nd degree burn. Especially now during Covid. I learned some tricks the first time, and that is, dressing it properly! This isn't the same level of dressing that you would get at the burn center, but it's better than suffering! It's basically a goop drenched sponge pad and will need to be wrapped with gauze or something. There was am immediate cooling of the raging burn and encouraged the healing process with minimal scarring.

Many of the reviewers giving this product 5 stars haven't even used the product, but rather are putting it into their first aid kits for later. Well, I actually DID try this Burn Shield on my second degree burns, and it was NOT a good experience. The tea tree scent was strong, which should have tipped me off that the quantity would be at an irritant level. I put the pad on my burn and secured it gauze and tape. Shortly after putting it on, my burn wound started tingling. After about 5 minutes, it had become a burning sensation, and I had to quickly take the thing off or risk irritatng my burn even further. When I got the pad off, there was a bright red rectangle the exact size and shape of the Burn Shield pad surrounding my burn. So it was irritating not only the burn, but also the unburnt skin around it. This product is not for sensitive skin for sure, but I worry about anyone else with regular sensitivity making their burn worse with these pads. Also, I think the amazon page for this product is misleading. If you have a bad burn, you're probably used to getting "hydrogel burn pads" that are like a thick, clear, rubbery, SOLID gel pad. The product calls itself the same hydrogel burn pad, but it's just a goopy gel on a thick foam pad, which I wasn't expecting after using so many hydrogel burn pads of the first variety. Anyway, stick to the actual gel pads with no irritating essential oils. Tea tree oil has its many medical uses, but when applying to burns, it's not great.

I burnt the entire palm of my hand and it started to blister and was extremely painful. It does what it’s meant to do. I just wish it had its own adhesive method instead of having to use medical tape which I found extra work. It works instantly using a cooling effect on the burn wound.
