  • A Ton of Fun, Especially with the Hoverkart Attachment
The media could not be loaded. Okay, so hopefully this review covers pretty much everything you need to know about this item. I got the blue hoverboard (with bluetooth) with the hoverkart accessory. Originally, I had this item at a 4 star, but that was with just the hoverboard itself. But the hoverkart, man that really made it a lot more fun. So in reality, I'd call this a 4.5 star item (rounded naturally to 5 stars, of course). TLDR: The product works as advertised but has a few quirks associated with it. The kart accessory really makes it even more fun to use for the whole family, and it isn't too hard too assemble either. The package was supposed to arrive in 2-3 weeks, but it ended up coming in a week. So that was great. No Amazon prime so that's a bummer, but maybe that will change in the future. The packaging is pretty much what you would expect out of this. It is well packaged with definitely enough padding so there shouldn't be any issues with it getting damaged in transit (assuming no one just tosses it around). My one main complaint is that the box is probably 20-23 lbs, and when it arrives, the box is just so slippery that it is kind of hard to grip and really get it inside. Some sort of handle would be nice, but obviously that's a nitpick. The hoverboard itself: as mentioned before, I got the blue version. It is definitely blue and very shine at that. It seems like it's a hard plastic on the outside, which 100% does not lend itself to staying very clean and damage-less through the duration of having it. It seems fine though overall. It weight a bit over 15lbs on its own. It is supposed to be IP54 rated (per the manual) so it can handle light rain and moisture but not for long. The charging cable is proprietary and doesn't look like something you could easily replace as far as I can tell. There is a little plastic cover for the charging port, which repeatedly comes out. So, not sure how well that will work for IP54 in practicality. Above the charger is a power button as well, which is nice to have (guarantees that this thing won't move on you!). The charging was a bit odd too. You plug it in and there's literally no indication (when it is off) that it is charging that I could see. But, when you turn it on, you see some lights flickering that seem to indicate charging. But, even after keeping it on the charger for like 12 hours, that light would still be yellow (not green) when you turn it on. So couldn't ever tell it was done charging easily. I e-mailed about that to customer service and will update this if they respond. Speaking of lights, this has a bunch of LED lights around it. They're around the wheels and a few in front/behind on the frame as well. They're not customizable, not incredibly bright, etc. I don't think they would suffice to alert any drivers, pedestrians, bikers, etc that you're coming from a safety perspective. So, don't bank on using it at night really (personal opinion). Lastly of the peripherals, this has bluetooth. It is easy to pair. I turned it on, searched for it, and paired it. No problem at all. The one thing that is definitely confusing is that, on your phone, it will come up as "Bluetooth" --- which is a terrible name. After you add it, you can rename it so it isn't a big issue. Just initially, you can get confused with that. How does it sound? Um, well bad - even for a bluetooth speaker. But, I think that's the wrong way to think about it. This is a hoverboard that has the bluetooth functionality as a plus. It gets pretty loud, but with a decent amount of traffic it might be a bit hard to hear. I have an audio sample in a video attached to the review. The volume is controlled by your phone and no where else, which is fine. No connectivity issues for me so also a plus. Actual usage of the hoverboard itself - I'll preface this part by just making it clear that I never did rollerblading, skateboarding, etc. I only did biking. So, I don't have the best balance in the world but not super bad. It took me maybe an hour or so to feel genuinely comfortable riding this thing. In that process, I definitely fell (somewhat hard lol) 3-4 times. So, just be careful. Wear a helmet and something for your palms - it'll make your life much more pleasant. After a bit, I definitely got used to it. I took it out on the sidewalks and actual road itself. You can really feel every bump and crack so that's definitely a downside. However, it's not specific to this particular item - it is just the nature of having only two wheels and no real shock absorption. If it this is going to be used indoors, I could definitely see its utility. In terms of battery life, I think it worked pretty much as advertised, meaning it went for 1-2 hours of me using it until it died. But, that was straight out of the box with no charging. So, I'm sure that part is fine. Okay so how is using this? It is fun. It really really is. It has that instant torque of an electric motor, and it can go decently fast. It says that it can do about 10 mph, but it felt like it would beep (more about the beeps below) when I was going slower than that. So an annoying con about this product. It beeps. It beeps A LOT when it's not happy. It'll be when you go too fast, when the battery is too low, when the two sides aren't aligned, if it's exerting itself too much, etc etc. I don't mind the beeping - it's loud and audible so you know something is going on. BUT, the issue is that you don't know WHAT is wrong. There's no other indicator to give you more information. Lastly, the instruction manual, it is okay. You can get most information you'd want out of it. But, the English is pretty poor and the formatting isn't that great either. But, it suffices overall. Alright so now the hoverkart - this has a separate assembly manual. Interestingly, I got a bunch of extras that are not in the parts list of this manual nor is it used anywhere in the instructions. The plus is that it has literally everything you need, including a wrench and an allen key. The instructions aren't great. It isn't easy to see exactly what they're doing. In the first step, it indicates that there are two things that should already be attached to the main frame, but they weren't. So you kind of have to just figure that out by looking at the picture on your own (it isn't that hard). The seat itself is a cheap plastic and isn't that great. It's good enough for this though, and I was never hurting because of sitting on it. Overall, it's a tricycle. The back two wheels are the hoverboard, and the front wheel is part of the kart's frame. Pretty simple, but very functional. It took about 20 min for me to assemble (not bad!). Once it is all assembled, you're ready to go. Now, this is the sort of set up that you can feel pretty confident going around in. No real chance of falling (even if you do - you're close to the ground haha) - but be safe and wear a helmet and all that. It's pretty simple to operate. Use the two side poles to move. Pushing down on both makes you go forward, pulling up on both makes you stop (and eventually reverse), left side down and right side up makes you go left and the opposite to go right. Takes a minute to figure it out, but man, once you have that setup, you are ready to go. And then it is even more fun. My parents even were able to figure this out and have fun with it. It's great. On the sidewalk, it's fine but you still feel the cracks and bumps and all that. On the actual road, it's even more bumpy for the most part. This thing can't really do grass that well so I'd recommend against it. I was pretty hesitant about the velcro straps holding the hoverboard in place reliably, but they did perfectly well. I had no issues with them. The box also came with a bunch of extras so it shouldn't be hard to replace. Overall, this product is a lot of fun. $200+ isn't cheap, but it can sure be a lot of fun for the entire family (especially with the kart attachment). ... show more

  • Very Fun and Fast
We bought these for both my kids, 7 and 11 years old, for Christmas and they love them! They were big hit! My sons goes super fast probably because he is so light. I would suggest helmets for sure. Tip, if your child is light you may have to put a barrier in between the seat and the hoverboard to make it make more contact. I used the extra straps to do this. Someone on youtube showed me this and it helped a lot. Also, when putting the seats together, use the washers. The directions didn’t say that but it makes the handles more secure and not wiggle around. These are really fun toys and all my kids friends wanted them after they saw them riding them. I was even able to ride one as well and they go really fast. They are pretty easy to control and they go pretty fast. ... show more

  • Didn’t last 2 weeks
We got this for my 10 year old son for Christmas and it didn’t work for even 2 weeks. It was okay for about 10 days and by “okay”, I mean he could use it for 20-30 minutes before the battery board would begin beeping to say the battery was dying. It charged fine for the first week and a half but after that, the charger would indicate the battery was “full” by displaying a green light from the moment it was plugged in and it would not charge it. We tried to return it but it has to be returned in the original packaging which we did not have anymore and we noticed that the bottom of the board was all scratched up from use for less than 2 weeks so we couldn’t return it even if we still had the original box. We did some research and found that the charging cord is sometimes defective so we purchased a new charging cord and it did the same thing. We purchased a new charging port and power button set because these also seem to be common issues with hoverboards. I removed the bottom of the hoverboard and replaced those parts as well and it still will not charge and the charging cord still indicates that it is fully charged. Very frustrating and a waste of $200. I would not recommend this product to anyone. ... show more

  • Nothing to complain
The media could not be loaded. This is the first time I’ve ever purchased valuable stuff off Amazon and I am totally pleased with my decision. I knew about this Evercross hoverboard through my friend (he bought the black one) and luckily I had $50 coupon at the moment I was purchasing. I’m telling you this hoverboard is the bomb. I’ve never played any kind of hoverboards, skateboards whatsoever because I’m suck at self-balancing. Yet this toy is totally different story, it took me only 30 mins to understand how it works, how to control my body while riding it around the house. Now I feel so much comfortable playing it around my neighborhood. My family loves this product too, my brothers and sisters literally have to wait for their turns to get on the board. It was so much fun. This toy is powerful and quiet, it can even go uphill without any difficulty. My advice for beginners are that making sure you feel the pedals beforehand and not putting too much pressure on you feet to control the speed while riding. There is one thing that I think it is confusing for me in the first place. The indicator light of charging is on the PLUG, not on the hoverboard. I had thought it was on the board so when I saw it showed orange (not red Or green as in the manual) I was freaked out. After having studied, I eventually understood the way it works. I haven’t tried the Bluetooth function yet cause I have another speaker for that. Conclusion, this hoverboard is a little bit pricy compared to others but it is WORTH EVERY PENNY. You get what you paid for. An absolutely perfect gift for yourself or your loved one. Buy it don’t hesitate 👍 ... show more

  • Hoverboard charge/straps
Charge does not last very long and also the Velcro straps had to be replaced only after three days of riding. Other than that the grandkids loved them and they are pretty neat. Just need to come up with something better to hold seat to hoverboard and the charge to last longer
