We ordered this car seat as a gift for a coworker. I was amazed how much design has changed since our youngest was born. I must admit that I am jealous. Where do I begin? We love the thoughtful design that permeates every aspect of car seats. For example, there is a level indicator in the base so that you can adjust the seat in your car until it is in the optimal position for the base. There is a pop-up lid in the base that makes securing and adjusting the locking belt easily and without having to feel around blindly in awkward angles. Once the base is properly positioned and locked the car seat slides easily into place with a satisfying click, which lets you know everything is secured and ready. After that, it is a simple matter to swivel the baby into a rear-facing position with another satisfying lock. Upon arrival to your destination, to release the car seat from the base you pull the lever on the back and away you go! Also appreciated is the ability to remove all of the padding for cleaning with a series of snaps. The seat comes with a canopy for shade, but that is easily removed if you choose. There are some interesting technology features that entertain the baby, including a soothing noise machine, gentle music, and an animated lighting system with several colors. And if that isn't enough, your phone will notify you when the latching system is secure and remind you to let the baby out of the seat every couple of hours. The base has some weight to it, but the seat itself isn't a burden to carry. The handle fit well in the hand and was angled appropriately. I like the color options available. If you buy this system you man want to consider getting an extra base for each vehicle in your house, which would be an incredible quality of life improvement in terms of convenience. You can also get a stroller that accepts the car seat, which would add even more value to this product. We love this seat and I'm sure the recipient of this gift will, too. ... show more

So we have had several brands of car seats over the years and the features have come a long way. First off - yes it rotates - and it works well. As with any infant carrier, it comes with a base and the necessary attachment hardware. Our car has latch - it was easy to install it. You just open the base, attach the latch hooks to the car, tighten them, then close the base which tightens it further. If you did it all correctly, that base should not move - even with a strong tug. The base also has a built in insert that we used with our car so that we got it perfectly level. The carrier is about what you would expect. It snaps into the base and is sturdy but lightweight. This one has lights and sounds from the handle. While they work for entertaining older kids, it is anyone’s guess if your baby’s will like them or of they will just make them more angry. One of the frustrations we already encountered with these lights and sounds is that they can easily be triggered by accident - which will almost certainly wake up the sleeping baby. I may either remove the batteries or install a micro switch in there so that this does not happen. As for the rotation - it’s pretty cool. It locks into place and there is a heavy duty steel lip that holds the car seat in place when properly facing. The scary thing is that it is also really easy to unlatch - I am picturing a curious sibling a few years older who could pretty easily unlock it at an inopportune time. I wish there was a more robust lock needed to release the rotation. This car seat does NOT come with a load leg, but you can buy one (we did) and it installs and makes it even safer. ... show more
