  • Easy setup, Eve app works better than Home Kit.
Style: 3 Pack
Works very well once it is setup. It is easier to use Eve app for the initial setup and connecting to Home Kit. The Eve app also acts as a GUI front end for Home Kit . It alllows you to see and control most home kit accessories, and has a bettter layout

  • Easy but bulky
Style: 3 Pack
These work great but they are a bit bulky on windows if you use blinds that are inset next to the window.

  • Excellent performance but terrible mechanical design
Style: 3 Pack
This is about the new Thread enabled units. The sensor triggers reliably and quickly although I've missed a small number of notifications. I blame that on Apple Home/HomeKit which may be unacceptable for some people. The problem is the flat battery cover. It has two ears that fit into two slots in the body of the sensor and there is insufficient clearance. It takes a ridiculous effort to close the cover unless you remove some material from the ears. If Eve was concerned about gravity pulling the sensor off the cover they should have just reversed the orientation. Despite this I'm keeping the sensors because they're almost certainly the best native Apple Home devices. The attached image shows the ears and slots. Note that the cover is a trapezoid so it only fits one way with the ridge on the bottom engaging the groove. ... show more

  • Overpriced for what it does
Style: 3 Pack
Just like iPhone cases and Apple Watch bands, these are way overpriced for what they do. I'm guessing it's about $5 tops to make and they sell them for over $30. Good for them, good for capitalism. I bought 6 of them! They're dead simple to install and use. I wish they were a lot smaller and less conspicuous. ... show more

  • Difficult to replace battery
Style: 3 Pack
When I first tried to set up the Eve Door & Window, I was unable to remove the battery cover. I had to have two other people try removing it before we could get it open. Then I discovered that the units use a rather uncommon battery. I could probably live with searching for replacement batteries when that time comes, but the difficulty in removing the battery cover was a deal breaker for me. Once the units are attached in place, I couldn't understand how I would be able to change the battery. It seems I would need to pry the unit off the wall or door first. For this reason I decided to return the product. Incidentally, tech support was responsive via email. ... show more

  • This is the 2020 3rd generation Door & Window, with Thread support! 😍
Style: 3 Pack
If you want about as instantaneous response times from a door/window opening to a light going off, this is now possible if you get this sensor, use an Apple HomePod Mini as your Homekit hub, and pair it with a Nanoleaf A19 Smart Color Changing LED Bulb, all of whom speak the new super fast Thread mesh network protocol, beside the backwards compatible Bluetooth protocol most of your older smart stuff used to use that took up to seconds before anything happens. It's awesome, and worked right after I set it up, downloaded the Eve app, and let it update its firmware to 1.2.12 (1293) [hardware 1.1]. The model number and other details filled in from their "identify-your-eve-accessory" web page: Year introduced: 2020 Model number: 20EBN9901 Wireless Connection: Bluetooth / Thread (Firmware update for Thread support coming soon, requires a HomePod mini) Works with Eve Extend: Yes Warmly recommended. Finally, you can start using smart tech without every new hardware vendor's stuff needing its own custom hub. There will be a lot fewer junk hubs in smart homes once essentially everything runs Thread. ... show more

  • Responsive with Thread
Style: 3 Pack
I've purchased a total of 9 of these sensors, each time choosing the 3 pack option. Two of the 3 packs had clear protective film which was somewhat difficult to remote, while the 3rd was fine and the film came off easily. I have HomePod mini devices in a few rooms, and these sensors communicate with the HomePod minis over thread. They are generally quite responsive and so far I am very happy with them. I also like that the magnetic part of the sensor is fairly small, actually about the smallest out of all of the door and window sensors I’ve looked at. When these arrived they needed a firmware update and initially connected to HomeKit using Bluetooth instead of thread. In order to get these to connect over thread, I installed the firmware update and sometimes needed to take out the battery for a brief time and reset my HomePod mini to get them to restart and connect via Thread instead of Bluetooth. Once I did this though they connected via thread and have worked flawlessly ever since. ... show more
