I purchased two 50 lb bags of all-purpose sand to fill these bags. Each pair of bags took about 20 lbs of sand to fill them so there were about 10 lbs of sand left over from each of the 50 lb bags. I've laid the sandbags on top of the large, square plastic water-filled base for my 11 foot cantilevered patio umbrella.
