This is a great yard anchor for your pup. Have a 62 lb bull dog that loves to chase wild animals. This thing has held him solidly in the yard. Our yard is pretty loose sand/soil/river rock mix. Really happy with how firm it holds. The swivel is a bit tight in its mount so I sprayed a touch of lubricant on the ball. I would advise using threaded quick clip to secure the lead to the anchor so it does not come unhooked accidentally. ... show more

This is nearly perfect. The idea is perfect, the execution could use another 6 inches. I love the swivel and I love the anchor. It’s the best tie-out you can get. I wish it was deeper.

    • Woe. Much more than I expected
I have a 12 pound, 15 year old Maltese who is blind and diabetic. We live out on a farm so he has always had run of the acres, until now. Not sure if its the lack of seeing, the diabetes or maybe some dementia, but he wants to walk in a circle. Well, that wears me out and makes me dizzy. So I rigged up something and it was okay, but I was using his leash and a rope and it would get wrapped around his back foot or get tangles around the stake I drove in the ground so I was always having to fix that. Stopping him when he is on a jog getting his exerciser is not something he appreciates either so its been a battle. The part that sticks out above the ground is very beefy! I wasn't expecting that and he has bumped into that a couple times, but I think he will sort of understand what that is after some use. At least is is low and doesn't hit him in the face or eye. The best thing is the cable doesn't wrap around his feet. It has wrapped around the ring on the top of the part that goes in the ground. Reason? He doesn't pull hard enough or doesn't weigh enough to make the ball rotate? Or maybe it is just so beefy, made for big dogs? So today I am going to spray it with some .... not WD40, but the other stuff....can't think what it called. But, something to make it a bit easier to roll around. Otherwise, Wow. This is something! (Also, I purchased a shorter 10" cable for everyday quick use.) ... show more

...by 92-pound German Shepherd instantly ripped the entire thing out of the ground in response to a passing squirrel. I love the 360 degree swivel concept, but will never feel confident using this again until my husband encases it in concrete and incorporates it into a patio. When installing it, I followed all instructions and gave it a strong tug to ensure it was secure, and it didn't so much as even budge, so I was optimistic. I was very thankful to have coincidentally had a neighbor child nearby when my dog ripped it out of the ground, so she was able to call to him (and he listened!) and tell him to stop so that I was able to run over and snag him before he ran off (my worst fear). Now I just take another, separately-purchased cable and tie it around a 100 ft tall pine tree with a 3 foot circumference and am certain he won't break free. Overally, it sounded like a cool concept, but was disappointing and could have ended up being tragic like the experience of some others reviewers. ... show more

I live in an apartment on the first floor. There is no porch gate, and my dog loves being outside. This product has changed the game. My dog now roams freely and I am able to relax. My dog is an 80-pound super-active dog, and it has not budged from the ground.

Five stars- quality product and I’m not biased. This worked better than anything else (tried, kennel, fence, electric fence, e-collar, but he dug it out the one day we had snow while I had covid. Dragged it behind him a mile and got hit by a snowplow on the highway which broke two of his legs. He’s 50 pounds, 8 mos old and recovering just fine. He’ll be without pin and cast in a couple months but he’s enjoying all the extra love, treats and attention. I’d recommend you use this for a dog which doesn’t dig. Definitely not for huskies. ... show more

    • Unscrews from the swivel base.

Our dog got off this multiple times in the first day. Not good at all. All it takes is a few laps in a circle and your dog will unscrew the clip from the swivel ball. I tested it with my hand barely pushing against the clip that was connected and it easily unscrewed. Unless you know how to weld the screw into the swivel I would not recommend this. ... show more
