For years my wife (and occasionally me) had to open/close our screen door every time our cats wanted to go out on our deck. Then they got smart and "clawed" the screening to open the door. Over years the screening got ripped and replaced. There had to be a better way then us being the "screen door greeter"! Never thought about searching for cat/dog opening for screen doors, until I did and found "Hakuna Pets Essential Pet Door for Screens Doors" What a find!! Easy to install. comes with long screws to fit various widths. I went and bought the needed size instead of trying to break off the extra portion. Took a few days for the cats to see what they had to do, but once they knew the process, they can come and go as they please! Then at night, we are sure to cover the opening with the included cover, so they don't sneak out for the evening!! This pet door was perfect for my screen door. (I needed to replace an older one. This new door is much better quality and mimics my back door style now with the magnetic flap closure and it comes with a door cover to securely lock it. I purchased this product, because it was the cheapest one on Amazon at the time. I would not recommend you use this product on an exterior door. It’s fairly flimsy. You would have to completely disassemble it to replace the flap. installation is easy. You will need a saw and drill.

No problems with the door during set up. One of my dogs quickly adjusted while the other is a bit scared to try it (He didn't have a problem when there was a hole in the door lol) One thing I should mention is that for the door height, the instructions say that it should be the length between the floor and the dog's stomach, X from now on, this seemed a little high for my dogs so the final height for me was X-10cm. I'm not implying that the the instructions were wrong or misleading, but every dog is different so you don't have to follow it to a t I'll update after a while but no problems so far ... show more

Just what I needed. Was the only one I found that could actually go down to zero between inside and outside piece (only needed 1/4 inch). The printed instructions did not mention that you need to cut the bolts to the size needed for your thickness. That was a little difficult to not mess up the threads.     • The most difficult door to install

I've installed a dozen dog doors. This one is by far the worst. Most dog doors are two pieces. You cut a hole and insert each section from the two sides of the door and screw it together. This dog door is not like that at all. To begin with the template is not sized properly. My screw holes barely had any bite and were at the edge of the hole. The inner and outer frame are flimsy thin plastic. The sleeve is not connected to either section. Instead the sleeve is 4 pieces of thin plastic that loosely fits in the sloppy hole. You must simultaneously squeeze both sides together, line up 6 screw holes, and line up the sloppy sleeve liner pieces in order for it to go together. It was a nightmare. It took me easily 3 hours and I'm a carpenter by trade and can build anything. So it's together. There is an air gap at the top of the door where the hinge is. I was able to cover that with duct tape. The door is actually pretty wind proof and the magnets work well. I do think that in a few days the fuzzy weatherstripping on the edge of the door will wear out. Time will tell. I think this is an upgrade to the soft vinyl flaps as those tear and curl inwards at the edges ND leak air. This is a better design but it's sooo cheap and flimsy. But, am I mad? Well I did only pay $45 for this thing so shouldn't expect to be a high end door. The installation was a nightmare. I kept telling myself this is a cheap door so don't be mad. The flap doesn’t stay pulled down to the magnet always so it allows air through more than it should. It was not an easy Install the plastic spacers are a pain to get fitted and to stay while installing. Overall for the price I guess it is what it is. It works just not as well as I’d like and was expecting. After a few months use it has now become absolutely useless. The part that locks the door has broken and to my knowledge you cannot buy just the door. Even if you could it’s a total waste of money and I am completely unsatisfied. ... show more

Great door! My pets absolutely love going in and out of it! Great fit in my lanai metal screen door. Easy to install into metal bottom of screen door. My door is bronze and the black trim looks great with it. Perfect size for my small, 11 pound dogs.
