I have a very small bathroom and this is the only toilet stand that would fit. It is 21” wide between the handles. My previous riser seat with handles was 19” wide, so this one is actually bigger and I can share the toilet with others who don’t like the riser seat. I attached strips of yoga mat with double-sided foam tape to the entire bottom rail as I did not feel that the two 1 1/2” x 1/16” pads that were attached front and back were secure enough with dust and dog hair. I covered the front feet with white padding and glow in the dark tape that is visible at night. You do need to make sure to place your hands in the middle of the handles to prevent tipping forward but it is very sturdy. Assembly was easy with no problems for 74-year-old lady. I did use pliers gently for final tightening since I don’t have much hand strength. Arms are height adjustable. I added a lashing strap that runs behind the toilet and through the crossbars. The Essential Medical Supply Height Adjustable Standing Toilet Safety Rail with Foam Handles came in excellent condition with all its parts. You do have to pay attention to the direction that you attach the arm units, if you install them backwards the handles will be in the wrong location making it hard to use. Other than that it was easy to put together. I like that I can easily move it when needed (for cleaning the floor or when company comes over). It's sturdy and helps me get up from the toilet with ease. It's also easy to keep clean. I was concerned about the foam on the handles getting icky so I put a wash cloth on each one (secured with rubber bands), so now I can just throw those in the laundry and put one clean ones easy enough. I need a hip replacement and bad knees and this Safety Rail has been a huge help. I am 5'1" tall and weigh 180# if that helps. I highly recommend. ... show more

This is a very heavy safety rail. It sometimes slides out from in front of the toilet but the last one I had you had to connect it to the toilet seat. In doing that, the toilet seat would come loose. I like this one because it does not connect to the seat so in that respect I love it.

The rails are adjustable so it can be made tall enough for my husband and it fits around the bottom of the toilet base so does not interfere with the seat staying up. We are well pleased with it.
