Updating to 5 stats after realizing you CAN in fact customize your brew time/volume! Overall this is a nice machine for straightforward brewing. I only wish there was a manual pull option. PRO’s: -after cleaning and setting up the first double shot pull was pretty good. Maybe not the most incredible by barista standards but had good crema and depth of flavor right off the bat. I’ll have to tweak the grind settings to find the exact right grind that works with this, but for easy everyday espresso you can’t go wrong. -Startup and heating was VERY quick, which was surprising. -you can customize your brew times for each setting and it remembers your exact timing for next time. -instructions were clear and simple -steam wand works (just read the instructions carefully or you’ll get a bunch of water in your milk) -clear pressure dial (no idea how accurate it is though). At the very least it will give you an idea if something is clogged or it’s time to descale. -slim profile doesn’t take up much space on the counter. -outside is mostly plastic but at least it’s nice looking plastic -large water tank CON’s: -the portafilter design is a little odd as the 1 cup basket has a notch to fit in and lock and the 2 cup basket doesn’t. However there is a spring ring in the main cup that holds them in place regardless. It just means taking it apart to clean is a little fiddly (but not that bad). -the drip tray doesn’t adjust in height at all. Not a huge deal but if you’re using demitasse cups it might make a mess. Still overall seems to be a solid and easy way to have everyday espresso if you don’t want to pay for all the bells and whistles or deal with all the technical finesse of complicated machines.

Would I recommend it at the current price of $97.49? Sure The machine itself is pretty easy to use and does exactly what it should. There aren't and major flaws at this price point and while the shots it pulls aren't the best, it still gets a decent amount of flavor and thickness out. +Fast heat up time (20s) +Good amount of crema using the included basket and finely ground beans (not too surprising for a restricted basket) +Pulls a decently thick, tasty espresso with my hand ground beans. -No solenoid valve, meaning the machine will spitting out residual pressure after you stop it. -Construction is largely plastic, but pairs well with my other cream colored appliances +Testing the water distribution, it's quite okay (see picture) +Milk frothing wand is really basic and takes some skill to use, but it delivers a powerful steady stream of steam. =The included tamp is flimsy, doesn't fit well into the basket, but handles 30lbs well enough Side note: Do not dishwash the portafilter. My in-laws threw it in the dishwasher, it came out dark, and I had to spend an afternoon cleaning it The basket does seem to be pretty close to 51mm size but haven't been able to test an unrestricted one yet. Edit: I grabbed the cheapest 51mm unrestricted basket here on Amazon (ASIN:B0D1G361GJ) and it's a perfect fit. I need a finder grinder but this machine can actually handle proper finely ground coffee.
