This has turned out to be one of my best woodworking tool purchases. This 14 piece set does much more that simple setup bars. I use it for height and fence settings on my table saw and router table. Also to check depth and width or dados, thickness of planed boards and many more uses. The price is reasonable especially after seeing a similar looking 7 piece set on a woodworking tool website for $170. Of course, it had their name on it, but I pity the fools who buy that set. I used it to build this Japanese puzzle box which required many precise grooves, rabbits and stop dados.

I've wanted a set of setup blocks for a while, but couldn't justify the price. Till these showed up in an email from Amazon, that is. I couldn't afford to not get them. I wondered what sort of accuracy I'd get for 27 bucks. I'm happy to report it's perfectly adequate for woodworking. The most used sizes, 3/4, 1/2, 3/8. and 1/4 are spot on. Some of the others are off by up to +/-3 thousands. Besides the typical 1/16 incremental sizes, there are the blocks necessary for typical 1/32 undersized plywood. Really nice to have. Finish is perfect on most of the blocks, though there are insignificant milling marks barely visible on a few. Except one that had significant milling marks in the back that made it 3 thousands under-size. The case is better than nothing, but not a whole lot. Thin and flexible blow molded, very poor fitting lid, and slide latches that are difficult to open and even harder to get closed again. Loose foam inserts to hold the blocks in place that easily fall out, and make it difficult to get the smaller blocks out. I didn't take any stars for the case because I'll probably make a nice wooden one to replace it anyway. Just something for you to consider. Overall, I'm happy. Every block is perfectly usable.

These setup blocks are very nice. Solid build and very accurate. My only complaint is they are somewhat difficult to get out of the foam enclosure, but I suspect that will get easier with time. I may make my own case/separaters for them.

Very good setup block set for the money. 2/3 the cost of other almost identical setup block sets. So don't expect perfection. One setup block is not machined flat but should still function ok (see Picture). Will recommend.
