Description

The Esbit CS985ST Alcohol Stove & Trekking Cook set provides various options for cooking out on the trail. It has a 985 ml pot with a volume indicator in ml/oz. increments on the side, and a 470 ml pot/pan which also serves as a lid. Constructed from Stainless Steel, the set includes a stand that supports the pots, and includes a solid brass alcohol burner. The alcohol burner is constructed from brass and allows variable temperature control, plus it holds the denatured alcohol in it during transport. Everything can be stored and carried in the large pot, which comes with a mesh bag, and fits compactly in your backpack. Dimensions-packed: 5.8" x 5" (14.7 cm x 12.8 cm);Weight: 19 oz. The pans are perfect size, I do not like eating out of or cleaning aluminum pans so the quality and size of these stainless steel pans are perfect for my needs. It is heavier at 1.25 pounds but with the quality of this set it is worth the price and weight.. One big negative is the alcohol stove is hard to balance inside the base which is not good especially if it is slight nudged while cooking. Spilling Alcohol on a hot stove is certainly a fire hazard. However the Redcamp Mini Alcohol Stove with its windscreen fits perfectly in this base. It is now the perfect setup for cooking. The Redcamp stove has a sliding cover that puts out the flame. Highly recommend both items. The weight remains the same. The stove set does come with a quality alcohol stove. I will use heat resistant glue to adhesive a 3.5 round piece of 1/16 gauge stainless steel metal and have a back up stove that will be stable inside the base or if needed another stove to cook with. ... show more

I absolutely LOVE the quality in this set, but when I received it It was missing the Center Cap for the Alcohol Burner. A simple matter. Trying to contact the company for the replacement part.

I purchased the Esbit Stainless Steel cookset (pot and pan) with the base/wind screen and alcohol stove. This thing works great! Pot and pan nest perfectly into the windscreen/pot holder/ stove stand. The alcohol stove works great and heated up a big pot of dehydrated spaghetti in a matter of minutes. This set as is is very nice and I would buy it again. I only wish there would have been a titanium pot and pan option with the same stove and pot stand (I think the pot stand is aluminum which is still pretty light). ... show more

I was worried about too many parts, but surprised when I saw it. Everything fits together into a small bundle. Even the alcohol stove fits inside the pot. There was even enough room for me to put in a lighter, matches, and sponge. Every inch counts when you're trying to stuff items into your backpack. This saves space and is very lightweight. I recommend it to anyone who goes camping or backpacking. ... show more

    • Stainless Pot is very stable in the stand.
I have no complaints about the stainless pot and lid. The lid will oil can but it is durable. Both the lid and pot ride very stable on the stand or base. They seem quite well made. The burner is also good. It functions well with and without the simmer ring. The burner, however, does not sit well in the stand or base at all. One has to fiddle with it to get it to sit level and it may jostle out of position when the simmer ring is added. It is very unstable, in my experience. The hole in the bottom of the stand seems to be too large and does not leave enough lip for the burner to sit on. It seems strange that they would design a stand to work with a burner and have the burner not sit properly in it. Running alcohol, I want the burner sitting solid. Tipping a lit burner is a very real possibility with the stand that came with this kit. If you order the stainless model it does not come with the esbit tray. You pay more than you would for the aluminum set and get less pieces. It also does not have the pouring dimple. Great idea, poor execution. 3/4 of the kit is excellent. This bad boy holds small propane can, propane stand, burner and lighter all inside of it, I don't use the gray stand it comes with just the actual container, boils water in seconds using propane and propane burner.
