    • The best for bird feeders!
This is the second one of these I have used in my yard for bird feeders. The first one is still solidly in place after many years of use. They are easy to install, even in our hard clay soil.

Used it to make holes for my wrought iron bird feeder poles. The diameter of the hole was a bit too big, but I just filled the extra space with tiny stones...worked perfectly. Inserted a screw driver in the two holes at the top to use as a handle to aid in turning.

This socket twists into the ground quite well and supports a one inch diameter pole with no problems. If you have rather loose or sandy soil you may not like it but if you have dense soil like clay or hard packed topsoil you'll like this product. When I want to move the feeders to another spot all I do is unscrew the socket and locate it to another spot. UPDATE: CAUTION, if while screwing into the ground and you hit a rock or some other extremely hard object and break off the very end of the screw wire you most likely won't be able to use the socket again if you try to move it. Without the tip it doesn't dig into hard ground. It just sits there and spins. ... show more

Once you get this pole socket in the ground it's not going anywhere. Its well made and very sturdy On the negative side, it can be a challenge to get lined up plumb especially if you have rocky soil. But, it is the best way to mount a bird feeder pole I have seen.
