Color: 6-String Short Scale Bass (20w-90)
Ernie balls are legendary, but requires you to change strings every so often, had mine on and still on a month later with heavy playing , it’s still has plenty of brightness you get from new strings, I’m guessing with heavy playing and so on they’ll probably last about 90 days , maybe more depending on your preference, I play my Bass VI like there a guitar , I have no sympathy for those who think a bass guitar in general can’t play like a guitar, I play the hell out my bass VI’s and I’m only an octave below a guitar. ... show more

  • Stays in tune. love Slinky feel. Good Tone.
Color: 6-String Baritone (13-72)
My pack of 6 string Baritone 72-13 sounds good. I actually put it on my 7 string guitar. I tune to A Standard. I had to adjust the neck and intonation because of the tension but that's normal. My chords sound big and full. It has that slinky feel. Stay in tune pretty well. Definitely recommend them.

  • WARNING!!! THESE DO NO FIT SUBZERO ROGUE VI!!!!!
Color: 6-String Short Scale Bass (20w-90)
If you're like me looking for strings for your SubZero Rogue VI, these strings are not long enough. The .90 is fine but the next string which is the .74 is not long enough to reach the tuning peg. I didn't try the rest of the strings because I've one doesn't fit it doesn't matter if the rest fit.

  • Not For Fender/Squier VI, Works Perfectly For Dano/Gretsch
Color: 6-String Short Scale Bass (20w-90)
A lot of the negative reviews seem to be people mistakenly buying these as cheap replacement strings for their Squier Bass VIs. That’s not what they’re for — your silly vibrato ruins everything. On a Danelectro Baritone/Bass VI, they are absolute perfection. Perfect E-e feel and intonation with no fuss. Awesome for tic-tac. I’m not an Ernie Ball guy for guitars, but you can’t beat these for Bass VI. And while we’re on the subject, the Danelectro version of the Bass VI beats the snot out of the Squier and Fender models. For good reason too: they invented the instrument, while Fender just copied it and added a useless vibrato. Don’t spend $400 making the Squier playable! ... show more

  • These things are awesome, fantastic quality. **May require modifications to your guitar**
Color: 6-String Baritone (13-72)
Nice on the fingers, nice on the ears. I got these as an experiment just to see what it was like, and had to file down my guitar on the string channels on head so I could use these strings. Took less than fifteen minutes with a 1/16 inch round file I found at home depot for $7. Make sure you clean the channel after widening. I am currently keeping my guitar tuned to G standard (G C F A# D G) and it's really fun playing around in such a low register. I haven't yet figured out what the lowest note I can play (while sounding good), but it goes LOOOOOOW. These chunky MFers are gonna give you every bit of low end you want, but if you don't want to alter your guitar, these strings will not be for you. Another thing to keep in mind is that these will very rigidly lock you into a low register, since tuning these too high would absolutely destroy the neck of your guitar. I would suggest putting these on your second guitar, and keep your daily player with your more typical strings. Know what you're getting into going in and these strings will treat you quite nicely. ... show more

  • Great piano like tone. Good tension at drop A on 24.75
Color: 6-String Baritone (13-72)
Take the Wallace review with a grain of salt, he seems more interested in validating himself and listing off all his gear than providing a useful review. Though meant for a baritone guitar, these work great on a shorter scale guitar tuned to drop A. You'll need to take your axe down to a guitar tech to have the nut replaced or shimmed (raised by a piece of wood under nut) and also filed in order to take these. On top of that you'll need to tweak the truss rod and bridge. If you've got a good shop in town, it's no big deal. So $25-50 bucks just so you can have your guitar take a set of strings like these or the thickest DR DDT. After stringing these up I plucked the 6th string and it rang load, resonated through the guitar and made me smile as the string resonated in my own chest. Having the 72 is the big difference here, It holds tension better at drop A than say a 65. These can be a bit of a work out as far as playing, but that should go without saying... get used to it. TL;DR I can't provide info for use on a baritone, but if you have a 24.75 scale guitar that you want to dedicate to drop A or B standard, these are spectacular sounding. You'll need to modify your guitar in such a way that keeps you stuck with huge strings unless you want to modify again to get back to standard. Worth it, if you're certain that's where you want to be tuned or you have several guitars and want to dedicate one to this tuning. ... show more

  • Works for Drop G tuning.
Color: 6-String Baritone (13-72)
The media could not be loaded. Put a fender SubSonic neck on my Telecaster body. Wanted to play Whitechapel type of riffs. Strings feel great with just the right amount of tension. I usually play D'addario XT. However, they don't make this gauge. So far I am satisfied with the sound and feel.

  • Why are these *still* so short?
Color: 6-String Short Scale Bass (20w-90)
I put these on a Harley Benton "GuitarBass" Bass VI copy with a 30" scale and a Tune-O-Matic (with separate tailpiece) instead of the vibrato bridge traditionally found on "regular" / Squier Bass VIs. Even though the Benton only needs about an inch between the tailpiece and bridge, the B and high E strings were barely long enough to reach the tuner poles at the headstock. I barely managed to get one full winding around the pole on the high E. Given the extra distance required by the trad vibrato tailpiece on a Bass VI, I have no doubt that anyone with a Fender or Squier Bass VI is gonna have trouble with these workin' out. ...I also cannot, for the life of me, figure out why Ernie Ball has not made at least the top three strings in the pack longer after a decade of vocal complaints all over the Intarwebz from inline-6 owners. Bass VI and copy owners surely represent the vast majority of the target demo for these strings. Anyway, if you've got one of the Benton GuitarBass things, it does seem these will work but with the above scary caveats. The strings actually sound pretty good too. I would not want the bottom strings any fatter on this particular instrument - between-string spacing is already plenty tight enough for me. ... show more
