  • Quality printing, great monochrome print speed and holds a lot of ink
Color: White
As with any printer, there are ups and downs. There are definitely more ups than downs, but this is not the panacea for printers, yet it is the best we have had. Let's start with the basics, which is what are most important, print quality and speed. The print speed is fast for monochrome printing and I really appreciate that. The print speed is average for color and that's fine. We definitely print more monochrome than color, so for us, 90% of our prints will be faster. While it advertises no warm up time, there is some lag between pressing "print" and printing, maybe that is transmission time, but just be aware that it may not be instantaneous. With all this said, this printer is the best in class that I have owned for speed, especially once it starts. Quality is perfectly fine too. If you do a LOT of photo quality prints, you might upgrade one level higher and get the 400 dpi version. I have not found any way to get 400 dpi on this one. For us that is probably a once or twice a year small gripe, so again, for the vast majority of prints, this will be as high a resolution as you will need. It does not come out grainy or pixelated. I appreciate the epson app, and yes you should download it to set things up. It goes through detailed step by step so you never question what is happening or what you should do next. With that said, we got bogged down in the set up phase. Mid set up, there was a nasty paper jam that took 20 minutes to clear and it screwed up the installation process and it became far more convoluted than it had to. Overall set-up took us probably 45 minutes. This was a poor experience and since other reviews have mentioned paper jams, I think Epson ought to look into this. Outside of this though, their set-up process is at least well coordinated. Wireless connectivity has been great. The set-up took care of all of that initially. We have not had to fight with finding the printer, it being offline, or not ready to go. This has worked seamlessly for both our desktop and our mobile devices. Although we have had it only a few days, this is promising. Adding ink was a breeze and I love that you can see the ink fill levels and add color one by one instead of having to replace all colors because one color is running low. This holds a LOT of ink, and reasonably priced so it really should last quite a while. This is a huge upgrade from our old ink cartridges. 5 out of 5 stars here The durability is perhaps only a 4 out of 5. There are a lot of moving parts. Trays come out automatically although i have no idea if we are supposed to manually move them or not. Some of the internal areas to access sound like you are breaking them when you lift something. It sounds like plastic snapping although nothing technically broke. I think there could be some enhancement here. I don't think any trouble issues would actually cause the printer to stop functioning, but there is more for improvement here. Also, after the initial paper jam mentioned earlier, everything has been flawless as far as function goes, so I am actually quite happy as far as ongoing performance is concerned. Lastly, we bought this on sale for Thanksgiving Sales, and found this to be a reasonable price with a discount. It is a little expensive at MSRP, but there will be substantial savings in the long run on ink. So overall, I am happy with this. I would say there is a bit of a learning curve as you figure out how and when to feed paper initially, but this has been a substantial step up from the cartridge printers that I am used to. Hope this helps. ... show more

  • Followed the directions and software to a T
Color: Black
Had an older Epson Eco Tank printer for years. Was very happy with it. One day, it wouldn't connect to the network. After countless hours of trying to correct this issue, I gave up and bought this ET-4950. It was delivered on time. I followed the directions, filled the tanks with the supplied inks, loaded paper, downloaded the software and set everything up as Epson recommends. It updated the firmware and said I was good to go. I held my breath as I tried to print my 1st page on this new printer. I was very happy when the printer came alive and printed the page without any issues. The text and images are super clean and sharp. Although I don't have much of a need for printing photos on this printer, the quality of a technical page with images that it printed are very acceptable. ... show more

  • BEST printer for home office.
Color: Black
I cannot imagine an easier set up/installation process for a printer! I used my iphone, downloaded the Epson app, selecting my 4950 device from the list, and was printing in less than 10 min. Make sure your phone bluetooth is on, & you’re wifi is turned on. For those who are tech challenged, they make a big deal out of your wireless passkey verbiage, which might lead you to think you need numbers off of your router… You’re simply entering your Wi-Fi password. I did also purchase a cable to link a computer to the printer, for scanning. I don’t use the fax feature, and did not purchase a cord for that. Double sided printing is faster than other personal printers, but still takes a minute.. The printing of pages single sided, is quite fast. And I am ecstatic about how far away I can be from my printer with my iPad/iPhone, and quickly print something wirelessly. I have printed out a lot of colored pages in the past month, and have barely made a dent in the ink. I feel that the menu is quite easy to navigate. Power has briefly gone out in my neighborhood a couple of times, and wifi stays linked, once the power is up & running. if it wasn’t connected, though, having the app will assist you in getting back online instantly. I would give this printer 10 stars if I could, I’m very satisfied, as I have dealt with a lot of personal printers that were duds, even though they had good ratings. My home office is very small and space is strictly limited. I have this sitting on an ottoman under my convertible desk. ... show more

  • Good quality photo prints - best to connect using a USB cable
Color: Black
I bought this printer to serve as a second printer - mainly to scan and print photos. I connected it to my desktop via a USB cable - setup was a pain. After loading the drivers and updating the firmware and loading the ink, it indicated it was ready to print a test page...but then it did not and I had to check the internet and found out it had to "charge" the ink wells the first time around. After I did that (it took another 15 minutes), the printer wanted to align the scan feature - once that was done, it kept nagging me to buy more ink (even though all the ink wells had just been filled) - only after I cancelled the entire print job, shut off the printer and then turned it on again, did it print the test page. Subsequent printing has been good and speedy - hopefully the installation is a one-time issue, but Epson needs to make it easier than what I experienced. I did print out some 4x6 photos (on photo paper) and the results were very good. The scan feature also works well - I will not be using the fax as I no longer have a land line - so that is a moot point. The printer is very compact (which I like) - since I have a laser printer with an ADF feature, this one will only serve as a backup printer and for printing in color (my main printer is also a color laser printer) - the quality of the inkjet is still better than that of a laser printer - so if you are looking to print photo quality prints, then the inkjet is the one to use. I used the wireless feature to connect my laptop to the printer and it seemed to work fine - I only test printed a couple of pages. One thing that I don't like is that it prints multiple pages in reverse - that seems to be the default feature and I need to search how to turn that off and have it print from page 1 onwards. Loading the ink was very easy - the ink just presses onto the nozzles and empties itself into the ink reservoir - time will tell how much ink this printer uses. The other annoying feature is that the main switch light keeps blinking when not in use - I just turn it off when not using it as that is quite irritating - no reason for something like that. So in summary, I give this printer 4 stars because of the things that can be improved. ... show more

  • Cannot print photos reasonably viewable, no support
Color: Black
I bought this printer because I had some very specific limitations. It was down to this vs a Canon. I choose this for being allegedly better for photos and due to a cranky Canon printer I am replacing. Lo and behold, on their Ultra Premium Glossy paper, photos are trash. Not "low quality," but completely unviewable garbage. They look all garbled - like you can't even tell what the image is. I tried multiple printing methods and settings plus multiple pictures. Nothing works. ONCE it started to look like a picture but then it printed half the page. It is not a nozzle issue. I ran tests and they are fine. I printed a PDF with large sections of multiple colors and they are fine. This happens specifically when I try to print on their own glossy paper, and yes, the settings say it is the right paper. I tried 10x and it wasted over 1/4 tank of ink of each color. I thought the point of these tanks was they last longer. I contacted support via email as they do not publish a phone number. They told me to run the test print then told me to call and closed my ticket. It said I could reopen my ticket with no instructions to do so. I tried replying multiple times and it says the same thing. They did put a phone number in but they are never open. I have a job. I cannot spend two hours on the phone during a work day. So now I have 1) a useless printer and more useless support and 2) a lot of lost ink. Will they be replacing my wasted ink if we figure out the issue? Doubtful. Throw that money away. I expected better from Epson. ... show more

  • Absolutely Impressed! Flawless IMHO
Color: White
I needed to replace my Epson WorkForce WF-3520 that I has for13 years. (November 20. 2012) It was an awesome printer but finally started to give me some problems so I decided to replace it. I looked at all of the "BIG TANK" products from the big three. I ended choosing this printer and love it. Has all of the features that I loved and needed from my WF-3520 and then some. It does 2 sided printing, 2 sided scanning with ADF and a very nice flatbed. Found that setting this printer up with the app on my phone was so easy! That app works flawlessly. I enabled remote printing and tried printing with it at home from my work location. worked perfectly. Also love that the whole printer stays covered till use so the dust doesn't get in to the ADF. If you print something and the printed paper tray isn't open, the printer opens the front door and rolls out the tray to catch the printed paper. I never turn the printer off. I just let it go in the sleep mode. The paper tray holds 250 sheets of 20# paper. You can go a very long time without having to reload the paper. I printed a few different borderless photos on several types of photo paper with awesome results. Very easy access to the maintenance tank for when you have to replace it. I purchased 3 extras to have on hand. I print several times a week so I never have to worry about the printer head drying out or clogging I hope. The touch screen display is large and make it ease on my older eyes. I also like how you can adjust the angle of the display and control panel so you can see it more easily. I use a Mac Mini and connection my Mac to the printer was so easy. I scan and print from all of my devices including my iPad. The app software is awesome. very flexible and thorough. In the setting on the app I enabled the remote print feature. You get tons of ink. I plan one only using OEM ink because you only have to buy it once a year or longer. The print quality of the OEM ink i excellent. All in all, IMHO, it is one of the best home/small business printer/scanner I think you can find. Hope this review is helpful. ... show more

  • I Hope You Get One That Works!
Color: Black
This printer prints clear, and the software you download even lets you scan pages directly to emails from the top glass. There was one huge problem. It took 2 weeks to get it to connect to my new HP OmniBook Laptop computer. I have an older Epson and an older HP printer that connect to the computer all the time, but this one would not connect. I had the Best Buy Geek squad, Epson tier 2 support and T-Mobile Fiber Internet all working for hours every day to get it to connect to the internet. Finally, I gave up, moved the printer into the same room as the computer and router, but it still would not connect! Once more I gave up, getting it connected with WI-FI and connected it to the printer with a USB cable. Now it works. The many Epson Tech Support tier 2 representatives never suggested the printer was faulty during the 2 weeks, but it is! It has an internal problem that will not let it connect to the computer by WI-FI. They continually blamed the Internet provider and had me contact them to do things they said would make the printer connect. After 2 weeks the final Epson Tier 2 Tech Support said I could return it and have it replaced with a new one but said they didn't think it would solve the problem. Note: Epson sells 'many' reconditioned printers on their website because so many come from the factory being not useable and have to be returned. ... show more

  • Great Printing Quality and Easy set-up!
Color: Black
I PERSONALLY purchased this printer ... it wasn't a gift or influencer item for a positive review! This is my honest personal opinion as of set-up on 11/4/2025! Bought this printer to replace an HP that we had, the second in fact, that had a problem with one of the print heads getting un-fixably gummed up! We needed the functionality of our old printer and this Epson has it! Print, Copy, Scan, & Fax!!! First, in case you are of the same old-school as I am ... you do NOT need a smart phone or need to download the app to set-up this printer! Nobody in my immediate family has a smart phone and we were okay setting this up!!! The printer came well packed in its box. Be diligent and carefully peel off all the blue tape. Follow the instructions and take your time! IF you choose to use your Wi-Fi to connect your printer make sure you know your network's name so you can choose it and your network password so you can enter it when asked. I did NOT connect to my PC via a USB cable so if that is the way you're going I can't comment on that. The printer does come with bottles of ink. I encountered ZERO mess, they can only fit one way and once they are filling the tank they auto stop when the tank is full ... do NOT squeeze or press the bottles one you hear them filling the tank. You should have a little ink left in the bottles but after the printer primes itself the rest can be put in to top it off again. After you run through all the printer set-up routines you will need to go to EPSON's site, register your printer and you can download an installer file that will install all the drivers and programs you will need to use and maintain your printer. Trust me ... it isn't as scary as it sounds ... I am a dinosaur and I was able to do this!!! Just give yourself a little Time & Grace!!! The printer is quiet and the color is spot on! As of right now I have no complaints with any of the features ... yes, I have used them all at this point! The speed varies, obviously depending on what you are printing. If you don't know that it will print a B&W text document faster than a photo ... I don't know what to tell ya! ;-) I hope that you try this printer and love it!!! Good Luck with your purchase! Be Safe & God Bless!!! ... show more
