I came from an HP printer and I got ripped off through their "Instant Ink" program. As a result I will NEVER buy an HP printer again. That being said I did some research to find a new printer (not including HP). The reviews on this one were overall good, and after looking at setup videos on YouTube, I decided this would be the one. Setup was simple. Just follow the instructions. They are basic and step by step. The print quality is very good in both black text and color pictures. The Epson Smart Panel phone app is easy to use. I have an Android phone and I went to the app store and it showed two apps: 1.) Epson Smart Panel, and 2.) Epson iprint. I downloaded both. I've used both as well. On the iprint app it will occasionally give you a message saying to use the Epson Smart Panel app for more functionality, so I uninstalled the iprint app. and exclusively use the Smart Panel App. Filling the tank with the included inks was painless. One drop of black in did fall on the edge of the inlet. I just dabbed it up with a Kleenex. You may want to have some tissues nearby while filling the tanks just to be safe. You will have a little bit of left over ink (by design) after setting up the printer. During setup the printer will "charge" the ink lines that lead to the print head, which uses a little ink. Once the setup is done, use the remainder of the ink in each chamber, and the tanks are full once again. Once drawback so far: Epson says they will increase the one year warranty to two years if you register the printer on their website. I just purchased the printer the week of 12/11/23. After registering the printer online with Epson, it showed a warranty expiration date of 2/6/25. Just over one year. Looking further on their website, it says the warranty period starts after the printer is purchased from the manufacturer. Obviously mine was purchased from a middleman business. If you don't purchase it directly from Epson, apparently that warranty clock starts ticking from when the business who initially purchased it. I bought it off Amazon. So far I'm satisfied with the printer and I consider it a good purchase. ... show more

The setup was easy. just follow the prompts and don't skip around. I didn't prefer setting it up with a phone but it worked. I have not had any connection issues with it other than a couple of times it has failed to "wake up" after long periods of non-use and it does not immediately print when I send a file, but simply pushing the "OK" button in the middle of the controls wakes it up and it proceeds to print right away. Regular documents print very quickly and the photos on glossy paper look amazing. The selectable automatic 2 sided printing works great and has saved me a lot of paper. I've had it for a few months now and printed quite a few papers and photos and the ink level has still not dropped at all. My old printer would have been halfway through a set of cartridges by now. Although its not the best quality printer, I would rate it a mid range in quality printer. I still bought it because of all of the positive reviews and the fact that the ink lasts a long time. I was so tired of buying the ink cartridges. I will have to say so far I love the print quality. This printer prints very nicely. The color is great and it does exactly what I need it to do. It's also soooo easy to add the ink. It is a clean process, and it is cleverly designed so that the ink doesn't spill. Pretty cool actually. I use this copier to print, scan, and copy. It has served its purpose. The only thing I don't like about it is that the paper is fed in to the back and you have to look at the paper sticking up in the back on its tray. In addition, the tray that the paper comes out on is a little weirdly shaped to catch the papers as well. I would recommend this printer to others for sure. I just can't figure out how to use the print option from my phone, but that's something I'll keep trying to figure out. ... show more

We bought this printer two years ago, thinking, "Great! Now we can stop buying expensive printer cartridges! This will be a great deal!" We do a LOT of printing around here, and needed something more economical. The color stopped working almost immediately after we bought (despite the tank having full ink levels for the colors), but because we made this financial investment, we kept using it with just the black ink. The print quality has ALWAYS been, consistently, poorer than any other printer I have had, with white streak in various spots. It always gives a message saying the printer is low on ink, even though it's not. We have done all the trouble-shooting we are supposed to do, the "power cleaning", you name it. Now, as of yesterday, it won't even print in black, despite just having done yet another "power cleaning" and being full of black ink. It is simply maddening to have such a worthless piece of garbage masquerading as a great printer. This is a printer to walk away from; do not be tempted by promises of printer paradise, because you will not find that here. ... show more

I use it every day so the print heads or whatever have not dried out or whatever they do. I've printed every day since I got it and nothing I've tried has helped. Yes, I'm probably saving money on ink, but I'd rather pay more for the nice copies I used to get with ink cartridges. Wish I'd sent it back. It just sucks! After printing every day and close to a hundred pages the print quality has become much better. It shouldn't have taken that long or that many pages. I would say the print quality now is good, but I'm left with a lot of terrible pages in my files. I might have to print some of them all over. That did not save me ink or paper! ... show more

I originally bought the ET-2400, but it would not Air Print with my apple iOS devices. So I spent the extra money and upgraded to this ET-2850, and I am so happy that I did for several reasons. 1. WIFI printing officially works with Air Print right out of the box. No need for the Epson app. 2. Easy set up on the panel; again no Epson app needed. 3. My iMac works with this item right out of the box. No extra drivers or software needs to be installed. 4. Extra big black ink well; came with two large bottles of ink; one for now and one to refill with later. 5. Very quiet scan and print operations. 6. The top lifts up to clear possible paper jambs and for cleaning. The ET-2400 does not. So never mind the negative reviews as far as I am concerned. Spend a little extra and go First Class, because it is less expensive in the long run. You will be happy you did. ... show more

Best personal printer I've ever bought. It's similar to the commercial ones I've worked with in my office through the years. I will NEVER again by an HP with cartridges. My last one wouldn't let me buy anything but HP brand ink whereas previous HP printers would, and it wanted to tell ME when to replace the cartridges or it wouldn't work. Cartridges that were still printing just fine! It finally made me so angry I pitched it and started researching my options. This tank style is the only way to go. You can easily see what your ink levels are. It prints beautifully, albeit a little slower than other printers, and slightly noisier, but aside from that, it works fantastic for a home unit. ... show more
