  • Much better than expected
I'm really pleased with this unit (Daxiongmao Dual Lens 1080P HD Borescope.) I've purchased a number of Borescopes (and, note, this IS a borescope, not an endoscope; it's not meant for medical use -- the description probably needs updated) most of which (although not all) either directly (USB) or indirectly (Bluetooth) connected to my cell to let it do the work, basically just acting as cameras. This one, however, is a fully independent unit, with it's own power, light and recording capability. The picture: Ok, there are limits to how good the picture can be, given that you are looking at a fixed focus lens, but it seems to have been set reasonably -- both the front and side cameras have a crystal clear view at about an inch from the target, and still a fairly good image at greater distances. The end camera has a bit longer of a focal range, the side one a bit shorter, so alternating can be good, if you need a clear image, and can get both pointed at what you are looking at; I managed by looking out the end camera as I approached, and then pushing the end past, and rotating the cable until the side camera had a good view. Both work fine at around an inch or two, tho, so if you can only get one positioned to see the target it still works well. Controls: Very good. I prefer to test units like this by just starting in without looking at the instructions; I do UX design sometimes and I like a system that is intuitive, especially if (like for this) it's something I'm unlikely to carry instructions for with me, much less actually try reading them when using it. It took a few minutes to figure out a few of them (like holding the Ok/Record button to swap to the side camera) but the buttons were well enough labeled that that was the only item that took any fiddling to figure out. I especially like the image flip button being easily accessible -- way easier to just hit a button than to try and twist the cable (when it's snaked around turns and obstacles) to try to get the angle I'm looking for. The entire unit is sturdy, and at least somewhat water resistant. The cable that you feed into the target is waterproof, but the unit itself isn't quite -- the bottom has both the USB-C port and the SD car slot, which aren't gasketed, so they COULD be vulnerable if you dropped the entire thing into fluid, but with them on the bottom and the rest of the unit pretty protected (including the buttons being covered by rubber protectors) I wouldn't hesitate to use it in the rain, or an otherwise wet environment. It looks like the SD card is limited to 32g; I tried a 64, and it wouldn't recognize it, but a 32 worked with no issue. This isn't a problem, as that's enough for thousands and thousands of pictures and quite a bit of video. The lights are bright, but can be reduced by a quick button press -- 4 levels (3 and 'off') for the end, and 3 (2 and 'off') for the side camera. It also comes with a fairly standard set of tools you can attach to the end (useful for nudging things, and there's a mirror which is good if you have a really right turn that you can't feed into, but still need to see -- like a cleanout on a lot of pipes, if you come from the wrong direction.) Overall, I'm very happy with it. ... show more

  • Handy device...
Alright, let's get down and dirty (literally) with this Endoscope Camera – the tool that lets you see where no human eye (or polite society) should probably venture! First Impression: Unboxing this thing, I immediately felt like a low-budget James Bond about to embark on a mission to uncover the mysteries of… my clogged sink. The dual lenses and the promise of HD visuals made me think I was holding some top-secret surveillance tech, albeit one that smells faintly of plastic. Pros: * This borescope is like giving your eyeballs the ability to teleport to the darkest, most disgusting corners of your life. Lost your keys under the couch? Wondering what that unidentifiable gunk is in your drainpipe? This bad boy will show you in glorious 1080p! * The dual lens feature is actually pretty slick. You can switch between forward and side views, which is way more helpful than trying to blindly snake a regular camera around like a caffeinated earthworm. * The built-in LEDs are surprisingly bright. They illuminate the shadowy realms you're exploring with the intensity of a curious toddler with a flashlight. Just be prepared for the horrifying discoveries these bright lights might reveal. * The 16.5FT semi-rigid cable is the perfect length for delving into the abyss without having to fully commit and crawl in after it. It's like having a curious, camera-tipped snake at your command. * The IP67 waterproof rating is a lifesaver (literally, if you're trying to find your wedding ring in the toilet). It means you can plunge this thing into the wet and wild without electrocuting yourself or bricking your new spy gadget. Cons: * Let's be honest, the image quality, while "HD," isn't exactly going to win any cinematography awards. It's more like "Hey, look, it's blurry but you can definitely tell that's a hairball the size of a hamster." * Navigating the camera in tight spaces can feel like trying to perform brain surgery with a joystick. It takes a bit of practice to get the hang of which way is "up" in the subterranean world you're exploring. * The "Tools for Men" tag on the product description made me chuckle. I'm pretty sure women also enjoy peering into the horrifying depths of their plumbing. Unless there's some secret man-code for endoscope usage I'm unaware of. Overall Thoughts: This Endoscope Camera is a surprisingly useful (and often unsettling) gadget. It's perfect for diagnosing household mysteries and finding lost items in the nether regions. Just be prepared for the things you might see – some sights are best left unseen, but hey, at least now you'll know what's lurking down there. Suggestions for Improvement: * Maybe include a little warning label: "Caution: May reveal the true horror of your household grime." * A slightly more intuitive control scheme for navigating the camera would be a godsend. Maybe haptic feedback to tell you which way the camera is facing? Recommendation: If you're the type of person who's endlessly curious (or just really tired of guessing what's clogging your pipes), then yes, I'd recommend this Endoscope Camera. It's a fun and functional tool that will give you a whole new perspective on the hidden world around you. Just don't blame me for the nightmares. ... show more

  • Very useful tool that's easy to use
I had another borescope that attached directly to my phone and compared to that, this thing is a dream to use. It's all self contained and very intuitive. The images are clear and it's able to focus on objects that are quite close without being over exposed because of the light (for instance, you can shine it in your ear and see the pores of the skin). The camera cable is described as "semi-rigid", which I guess is a fair description, but it is quite stiff. If you put a bend in it, it will stay that way so I'd say it's a bit more on the 'rigid' side of things. Depending on what you are wanting to use it for, that could be either good or bad. The screen is sharp and the focus range makes it easy to get a good view of what you're looking for. In all this feels like a very premium product that is lightyears better than the ones you attach to your phone. It will be a useful tool to have around and it's nice to know that it will still work in 10 years since it is a self contained unit that isn't dependent on an app to work ... show more
