I love this knife set. The look of it, with the wood handles is great. My previous knife set with block is in a picture to compare size, this one is more compact without it seeming smaller. It just takes up less room on the counter. My previous set, part of the block with the steak knives came off so you could bring the entire block to the table. But honestly we never used that feature, maybe once when we first got the block, but never again. So it was an unnecessary feature that made the block larger. I also like that this block has slits at the very bottom of each slat - this allows any water to get out, in case a knife wasn't completely dry when you put it away. I thought this was a great added feature. The knives are sleek and sharp. I feel this set is more "adult" than the black handled generic sets you get from big box stores. I think this would make a great wedding or first time homeowner gift. ... show more

I am in love with this kitchen knife set. It truly has all the fixins! First, the wood grain look and feel is just beautiful. The knives are SHARP upon arrival. How do I know you ask?? Because I accidentally sliced my finger when I was taking them out of the wrapping. Sooo, be extra careful when removing them from the cardboard wrapper. But anyway, I used them to cut up a onion and I'm telling you I was slicing and dicing like an Iron Chef. There is a kitchen shear included and that makes a sell for me because any good cook needs a good pair of kitchen shears. All the knives fit nicely into the slots and there is an included knife sharpener that is a real deal professional knife sharpener. These knives are perfect for a full kitchen set. It’s pretty sleek and easy to store and has all the knives you need. If you need a classic set of knives, I think these are a great option! These are extremely sharp so just be very careful. The block is nice and sturdy so that was good as well. The wood handles make them looks very high class and expensive. Compared to others with similar qualities I would say these are on the cheaper side of pricing so that’s good. ... show more

Our knife block/knives were "inherited" several years ago. They were old and really need to be replaced. Not only were the knives getting harder to keep sharp, the block was not what we wanted (straight up and down). It didn't hold our steak knives or scissors and was looking shabby. This set is perfect for us. The knives are well made. Perfect balance. It block holds all the knives including the 6 steak knives, scissors and a sharpener. The wood is a rich beautiful color.
