Very Basic, Works Fine, Easy to Read
Style: 1F83C-11NP (new model) Pattern Name: Thermostat
We just had 2 installed in our home, one for a gas HVAC unit and one for an electric HVAC unit. We replaced two existing thermostats, one old and one new, because they were so darned hard to read! Too dark, especially at night. Had to keep flashlights handy just to read the screens, which were both way too small. These Emersons have large screens that light up briefly when you adjust the temp, but you can also light them up (briefly) via a button at the very top of the unit. You can also keep them lit if you have a certain wire configuration, which I'm not sure we have, but it is an option on the installer menu (need to read the user guide to learn how to access that menu; it's pretty simple). I don't think we would want them lit all the time since the screens are so big and the backlight is so bright. We had a plumber who was onsite to change a faucet install both thermostats. I watched him do it and am glad I didn't try it myself. It took him less than 15 minutes to do each one. I did point out to him, as I was reading the user guide to myself while he installed, that there was a separate setting for gas or electric. Since we had one of each, he made sure he set it correctly, so I'm glad I looked at the instructions. It has occurred to us that, with these new thermostats, we are having to adjust the temp less often. Seems like we were always getting up from whatever we were doing and adjusting the heat or air up or down. It was a way of life, so now that we don't have to do that, we realize the thermostat is regulating the temp and not just a mechanism to turn it on and off. Duh! I would recommend this thermostat if you want a very basic, adjust up or down, select heat or air, be able to read the screen in any type of light unit. No wi-fi or app or voice guide or remote access, just basic manual control. ... show more

Great Thermostat
Style: 1F83C-11NP (new model) Pattern Name: Thermostat
We did not install this ourselves but had our AC technician install it. I watched him install it. It's a wired unit. He installed it in less than 5 minutes and was a replacement for our prior thermostat. He said it was extremely easy to install. We've had it set up now for about a year with no issues. It reads the temperature extremely well as far as we can tell. It has a button on the top that you can push if you would like to light it up if it's not in a well-lit area. It is not anything fancy, and has manual buttons, but we prefer that. Keeping things simple I think keeps things more maintenance free and gives you more of exactly what you need - at least it does for us :) It looks sharp. We recommend this to others. ... show more

This product works great. it has some built-in features that makes it easier for the electrician. But it doesn't have a "Filter Change" feature as advertised.

easy to install instructions were easy to understand , All I had to change was the switch from gas to electric system. I like that the display is large and easy to read , nice large buttons , easy to adjust temps . seems accurate , heat shuts off just 1 deg above set temp, and never drops below set temp, ac temps are dead on, What I really like is the battery meter as You can see in the pick . no more guessing battery state good back lighting . wiring was a snap and this one does have the blue common wire To date I have been thru 3 thermostats, one a white rodgers that was getting just old and the buttons were wore out, went thru a couple of honey wells that worked for a year then just failed . I highly recomend this if you want a basic thermostat for a 1 heat and 1 cool system a LUX tstat that just had too much temp swing. ... show more

Doesn't overshoot the temperature like my previous non Emerson did.
Style: 1F83C-11NP (new model) Pattern Name: Thermostat
It was easy to install mainly because I was removing a thermostat and using this Emerson to replace it. So all the wires had been run and the system setup. It was very nice that the holes for the Emerson lined up with my previous thermostat so all I needed to do was to attach all the wires and screw it onto the wall. This thermostat had a place for my "C" wire which was tucked away because the old thermostat didn't have a connection for it. I set up the thermostat before I installed it right after I installed the battery. I had planned on having the display backlight on continuously so I activated that function in the setup. The thermostat will come on 1º below the set temperature and go off 1º above the set temperature. It's likely 0.75º because that's what I have the differential set in the tech programming area. I have multiple temperature sensors in the room. Of course they all read a little different. They read tenths of a degree. I ended up adjusting the thermostat 2º above what the original reading said to match my other temperature displays. It's more like 1.5º but it will only let me do whole degree number increases. My old thermostat would overshoot several degrees and it was very frustrating. This one shuts off as soon as it's 1º above the set temperature so the furnace isn't running as long and isn't over heating the room. The sensor is a bit slower to react than the last thermometer and all the others in the room. But they are all open to air sensors which react very quickly to any change. The only small complaint I have is the backlight isn't as bright as I'd like it to be. This is only based on 1 day of operation. If things change I'll edit the review. ... show more
