I had a similar hamper for several years that had all the problems noted in other reviews. So, I made a couple of modifications to this one - mainly using a sharp hacksaw to trim each rod a little less than 1/2 inch shorter so when they are installed they don't cut into the binding or netting. So far, so good. There is a flaw in the casing on one end of the hamper in that there is backing on the pocket that you slide the rod through. I decided it was not a big enough deal to do a return/replace since the rod with stay in place fine with the netting as the backing. Anyway, for what I paid, I'm sure it will work fine. And it's a relief to have a new one. It looks fresh and new and functions nicely. ... show more

There are two problems with this laundry sorter. First, it is much bigger than it needs to be, 33"x23"x13". Also, there are four rods, two to each end, designed to keep the sorter from collapsing. They put pressure on the edges which will eventually lead to wear. Otherwise the manufacture is sound and it sorts the laundry into three very big compartments. Update: one of the support rods did punch through the mesh on one side, creating a hole in the mesh. Because the mesh easily gives way to pressure it is very likely that the hole made by the rod will grow larger in time. When that happens I will be shopping for a new sorter. ... show more

I just received this and am very disappointed!. I have a much better one that I got at Walmart for less money. It is partly as described. It doesn't stand up on it's own without the 4 rods that you have to insert. It just flops over and is useless! Once you install the separate rods, it does stand up, but now it is no longer collapsible. The whole point of this is to sort your laundry, both clean and dirty, then collapse the sorter and store it. I am frustrated that this will not stand without the rods and won't fold up with them in. Dumb design!!!!!! It is VERY large and the color is a nice turquoise. Too bad the function is not there. ... show more

You have to put plastic tubes into the hamper to make it stay open, so it's not collapsible after it's built. One of my slots was sewn shut, so I had to cut it open to slide in the tube. The tubes don't stay in, so they push into the netting of the hamper. If one section of the hamper gets too full, it starts to collapse. I've already purchased a new hamper from Target and this went to Goodwill. ... show more

When I opened it, it looked small. Fret not, it fits our 1 1/2 weeks load of clothes (2 of us, not including bed sheets), and 2 out of 3 are still half empty. We were looking for the best hamper we could find, one that has washable cloth liners and sturdy enough to last for a lifetime, but we stumbled upon this product and it fits our needs. It's simple, stupid proof and cheap. It's a matter of how careful you are and of course if you have kids around, but I can see us using this for a long time. (cross fingers) ... show more

I have a small bathroom and not much room to put a hamper for dirty clothes. I am also one of these people who likes to sort clothes by colors and material. This Pop & Fold Laundry Sorter fit those needs. It is so narrow that it fits perfectly in a small place I have by the bath tub. And when I take off clothes, I just throw each piece in the right compartment that has like clothes. Even though this sorter is small, it holds a lot of clothes. That being said, it is also easy to carry. I have a bad back and can't carry a lot of things but this sorter is light enough not to bother my back. My laundry room is downstairs, a long ways from my bathroom so this sorter is much appreciated for being able to carry my dirty clothes easily down the steps. This sorter is the perfect size, perfect height, with two seemingly-strong handles. But . . . the quality of this sorter is not good. It has to be put together with these little, flimsy metal rods that do not stay in place. They can fall out of the sorter, shift, or move into awkward positions and rip the thin material. They are not comfortable or convenient to deal with. It reminds me of putting an old tent together. Just too much hassle for a simple thing! Luckily, I also purchased the "DAZZ 3-Compartment Pop-Up Sorter with Carry Handles." THIS laundry sorter is well-worth your money. It is everything that the Whitmor is not: convenient to open and close, well-made (without any stupid metal bars to contend with), sturdy, and attractive. It also stands up better than the Whitmor, which often falls over because of poor design. I have not tried any other laundry sorters, so this is all I know.
