  • Works well once setup correctly; assembly instructions are missing a lot of small things
Color: NEPTUNE 2
I'm writing this review to help the probably many users who will soon experience the same issues during assembly. I learned all of these the hard way and they are not mentioned at all in the assembly instructions. There is an assembly video from Elegoo on the included SD card, which wasn’t mentioned anywhere and I didn’t even find this video until after I did my first test print. Here are my top assembly lessons learned: 1. There is a blue plastic film on the metal heated bed (similar to the film that's on the LCD screen). Remove this blue film during assembly to get better heat dissipation on the bed. 2. The black trolley wheels on all 3 of the X, Y, Z axes were loose presumably from shipping. If these are not tightened then you will experience bed adhesion problems at all temperatures. The black wheels should not spin freely and should only move when the axis moves on the rails. If any of the black wheels are loose then you will need to tighten the hexagonal eccentric nuts on each of the trolleys to pull the wheel closer to the rail. There is 1 eccentric nut on each of the Z and X axes trolleys, and 2 on the Y axis trolley (see pictures). The hexagonal eccentric nut on the X axis is located directly behind the nozzle but can be tightened without removing the nozzle cover if you come at it with the open ended wrench from underneath and behind the nozzle. Tighten this eccentric nut so that there is no play in the trolley. The Z axis eccentric nut is on the wheel near the inlet side of the filament tube. On the Y axis (under the bed) there are 2 eccentric nuts on the right side of the trolley on the LCD screen side of the printer. Make sure that none of the black wheels spin freely or it will won't get the "squishing" effect on the bed. 3. The Z axis screw secures into the motor at the base with the 2 small black screws at the bottom of the axis screw (see picture). 4. The springy wire that's inside the spool holder is a nozzle cleaner. I'm not sure why it's there but it is. ... show more

  • Multitude of Issues right out of the box, Returned
Color: NEPTUNE 2
UPDATE 5/27/2021: Elegoo reached out to me and provided a second printer for me to test. Amazing Support at the very least. Once I assemble it and test I'll update my review accordingly. Let me start by saying most people seem to have had great success with this printer, so I may have had a rare defective model. I was very excited to get one after trying to 2 months of refreshing, so it was very disheartening to not even get a single print to run. The first major issue I encounter was that the entire preassembled base was warped and had a wobble. The entire build plate assembly only stood on 3 corners and would rock about 1/4 inch. I had to loosen multiple bolts to get it to sit level, but the frame components seems to have a slight bend. The second major issue was the Build plate wobble. Even after tightening the plate directly and adjusting the eccentric bolts the plate would wobble left and right. This would cause any alignment I made fail immediately after leveling. I assume this was directly tied to the above issue where the frame of the main base seemed to be warped. The third major issue I noticed was that the X-axis Motor made a clicking sound when moving. When this happened the heating element would make a slight jerking motion while moving across the X and Y axis at the same time. I tried for 8 hours to troubleshoot this printer to get it to print, but everything I tried was fruitless. ... show more

  • Amazing for the price. 6 Stars if that was possible.
Color: NEPTUNE 2
I don't typically leave many reviews but this printer deserved some of my time. I came from Resin printing (usually the other way around) so that I could make bigger prints. This printer has been awesome. If you are thinking about an Ender series as I was this one is as good if not better for a lower price. Important to check for loose parts due to shipping, even the heater components in the hot end. Follow this guide completely: https://teachingtechyt.github.io/calibration.html#intro from Frame Check to Linear Advance and you will be printing beautiful prints the first day. Things to purchase at the same time: Yellow bed springs and Capricorn PTFE tubing, this kit is great: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08B83VJMD/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and lots of filament. I have had great success with GeeeTech or Tecbears PLA and JAYO PETG. Some extra nozzles are a good idea, this set has drills of the right diameter to make sure the nozzles are the correct size (I bought another cheap, large kit that has some 0.4mm nozzles that are more like 0.2mm): https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07Y9WQKZ1/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 The Elegoo version of Cura slicer that comes with the printer does not play well with my (brand new) gaming laptop with 16G Ram, NVIDEA GeForce GTX, and a Ryzen 7. It also did not feel very intuitive, I was used to using Chitubox for my resin printer. I found Prusaslicer (free) and started with an Ender 3 profile and it has been a great slicer for me. I have not needed their customer service yet but I hear it is very good. If you are new to FDM printing like me, watch a ton of YouTube and join the official Facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/192499235897759/ Don't be afraid of it being a fairly new product, most of the upgrades that can be made to some of the Ender series printers can be used on the Neptune 2, for instance this Y-Axis tensioner fits perfectly: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07ZPY11B1/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I have found that you really need to be a tinkerer to enjoy this hobby and this printer. If you are not comfortable playing with settings in a slicer and using tools to tighten, align and upgrade your machine to get amazing prints then this printer is not meant for you. If you just want to download and print without learning the intricacies of the hobby you may be more interested in a 1-2K printer or paying someone else to produce the cool or functional things you can make with this machine. The only negative I can think of is they are out of stock. I need 1 or 2 more of these printers - quite the backlog of prints that I want to make! ... show more
