  • 4.0 out of 5 stars hookup a bit more challenging than expected
Color: White-7.0Kw
The LP water heater in my RV went out. Since I don't boondock with it, and I have a 50 amp panel, I figured I would give this one a try. I was relieved to see in the description that the water connections were 1/2" NPT. Well, it turns out that is a lie. NPT (National Pipe Thread), also sometimes called IP (Iron Pipe) is tapered. These are not tapered. They are straight. A 1/2" NPS (National Pipe Straight) connection, more often just called a "compression fitting" in the states works. These are the connections typically found on shower and faucet hoses. The European counterpart, and used in most of the world, is the BSPP (British Standard Pipe Parallel), sometimes just referred to as "G", presumably short for Great Britain. Both the 1/2" NPS and G 1/2" (BSPP) have a 14 thread per inch threading and use a washer to create a seal. While not compatible from a purist standpoint I believe they will fit together despite some other differences. I was able to re-use some 1/2" NPS compression to 1/2" barb fittings from my old unit to connect to pex. I looked pretty hard in the typical big box stores in the states and couldn't find these same adapters anywhere. I bring this all up because I believe the connections on this unit are likely the G 1/2" (BSPP). The reason I say that is because of the colors of the electrical wires. In the states, for a 220v connection, we'd expect to see a black and red for the -110v and +110v lines with a white neutral and/or bare ground on new equipment. This unit, however, came with black, blue, and yellow. According to my Portuguese family that is pretty typical of Europe. In that case, the black and blue would be your line connections and the yellow your neutral. I find it hard to believe the manufacturer would pick European standards for electrical but North American standards for plumbing. Anyway, I finished hooking up the unit a few hours ago and thus far no complaints in terms of operation. For the record, you can find G 1/2" (BSPP) to 1/2" NPT adapters on Amazon. I didn't try, but I would assume that they would work. ... show more

  • 3.0 out of 5 stars pulls more than 30 AMPS 220vac for heat
Color: White-7.0Kw
It will trip a 30 amp breaker if it runs for more than one minute at full heat. Also, if you have a low volume flow and turn off the water and turn it back on with 20 seconds, the heat is almost scalding!! possible design flaw with the shut off point circuitry. I have it set to the lowest setting and that seems to work better. I may try doubling the 10 gauge Romex to see if it is dropping voltage on the copper wire ... show more

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars Infinite hot water
Color: White-5.5Kw
I love the size and that I’m able to hide it between the walls. I’m able to have hot water without running out during my workdays

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars It works with one major caveat...
Color: White-5.5Kw
This small heater works fine if you don't need much volume. At about 1/3 the normal volume of the cold side, the water gets quite hot. But when you increase the water flow, the temp drops quickly. And that is with 65 degree or so cold water inIet temperature. That translates to a 50 degree rise or so. If you have warmer water to start with, you could increase the volume proportionally. I have it on a 30 amp 230V circuit with 10 gauge wire so power is not a factor, it just has it's limitation. But for a shop sink where I wanted hot water to wash hands, occasional dishes and parts, it works great. ... show more

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars This one works for my shower. Excellent unit. I tried many.
Color: White-7.0Kw
I have tried several of these water heaters. This is the only one that will get the water hot to my shower. My input water temp is a solid 56F from my well. Using this water heater (7kw) and without flow restriction in the showerhead the temp would reach 120F. With a 2.5 gpm flow restrictor in the showerhead the temp reaches the max of 131F. The water temp at the showerhead is consistent with no fluctuation at all. With other water heaters I would get changes in water temp as my well pump cycled on or off - that does not happen with this one! The package included an input flow restrictor valve. I did install this but have it set to wide open full flow. I am very very pleased with this unit at first look. I like that I can see what my water temp is. Installation was a breeze as I was replacing another POS heater. I easily installed under my bathroom sink without taking up much room at all. Wall bracket is included - mount with 2 included wood screws. The instruction manual is a bit lacking. Not much in it. (I didn't need it) I'll be buying another one for a second bathroom. Excellent deal! ... show more

  • 2.0 out of 5 stars Works but leaks. Not usable in a finished home environment. Ok if outside
Color: White-7.0Kw
It was usable for my sink, and warming of water for washing machine. I plan on using for a single shower with a 1.25 GPM head. There is some "device" connected to the input side which in diagram is called "Safe Equipment" It is either a flow restrictor or a filter. It is plastic with bras connections. I can feel the plastic to brass is weak and likely leaking on the input side of that device. I did not tighten too much at first but as was very leaky, I tightened more and it helped, but can only tighten so much before I know it would be to tight. Chatted with tech support and they will resend replacement. Will see how it works. ... show more

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars Non-standard fittings difficult to match.
Color: White-7.0Kw
Fittings we're not standard and difficult to match by the plumbing company. Plastic display cover with control buttons popped off when removing it from the carton. I stuck it back on and it seems to be okay now.
