  • Reliable, durable and good value for the price
I bought this for tiny house/hunting cabin project. I have a 50Amp RV power hookup and was looking for on demand water heating for sink and shower. Since it may be a few weeks in between visits to the cabin I was shopping for a unit that is 1) Tankless to avoid keeping water in a water heater tank, and 2) On demand and small enough that would not draw too much power. I was looking at both the 5.5kW and 6.5kW model from Ecotouch and decided to go with the 5.5kW. If you are comfortable with the plumbing and able to install a 30amp double pole breaker for the 240V supply the installation is pretty simple. The unit is surprisingly small and simply hangs on the wall. I have the heater below the sink, and shower stall built right next to it so the pipe is very short going to either sink or shower. From testing so far the heater works as advertised. Easy to turn on and adjust the desired temperature, and after selecting temperature the display switches to show current temp in the unit. In my setup the water is pumped from holding tank in the cabin itself so starting temp stays around 65-67 degrees. I keep the unit set at 110 degrees output. The pump is 2.9 GPM max, so with faucet wide open the water gets warm but it does not get to 110 degrees, as expected from the specs. If closing faucet halfway, at approx 1.4 GPM it does easily reach approx. 100 degrees within seconds, and if closing faucet a little below halfway it will reach 110 degrees at constant flow, but of course water flow is lower at that point. Product specs are - 67 deg water will reach 109 deg at 1.2GPM. I may look for a flow regulator to more precisely test flow rate, but seems to be accurate. Results: The hot water supply to sink works great, as described taking the temperature and flow rate limitations into mind. I have seen other reviews that have used for a shower. My shower stall not quite finished but I will test the output once complete, keeping mind this is a small unit and will not achieve the flow rate of my shower at home for the size. It will probably work as expected. Update: Have been using this water heater the past few years and it has worked perfectly for both the sink and shower, although technically not advertised for shower use. I have a low flow shower head installed and when turning hot water on for about 5 seconds the water is as hot as advertised by the limitations of the unit. If hotter water is desired the flow can be turned down slightly. ... show more

  • Product is fantastic, and I am pushing it to its limit.
I live alone in a house, got tired of the huge gas bill and water heater, so put this tiny unit in its place, home is all rigid copper plumb, its a mild winter, and it does the job as long as you keep the flow rate as per the guideline, <1 GPM. THIS IS NOT HOUSE SIZE, this is part of my research, and its fun, it's more for small place single-use, non-coincidental usage makes it viable. It gets burn you hot in my upstairs shower, but its a very light water saver head I have and regulate the flow at the showerhead, a feminine type won't have that stick with the application guide and know your usage and need. Being this little thing only draws 22 amps wide open, it will do the job this year and will be upgraded with the same manufacturer but with a 60amp so I can get stronger showers by more water flow, which will cost more to heat, so trade-off. For my current purposes and research, this unit is fantastic. I put some Niagra 3 flow water savers on lavatory and kitchen sink, on the low in bathroom vanity it will burn your hand upstairs, med flow is nice and warm. In the kitchen, low flow takes a while to heat and it's nowhere near the heat of upstairs as home downstairs has block crawlspace and no insulation on the copper pipes, but it gets hot if I let it run, just don't need it that hot to waste the water enough to heat the pipes to bring hotter water. ... show more

  • Support is awful
Installed this product and it worked fine for a couple months then started acting up. Still does not heat the water to the desired temp. Have sent videos and pictures along with explanation of the problem to support. They say yes, we want to help you but never followup with us. We have sent several emails but still have no resolution to the problem. We will be removing it and ordering a different brand. Will never buy anything from ecotouch again. Sad. ... show more

  • Easy To Install
I didn't have any issues installing this water heater. A reminder that you'll need an extra water line (the size will depend on your faucet, in my case it was 1/2" x 1/2"), also make sure it's long enough to reach. You should be able to use your existing line to go from the wall valve to the heater (again, this depends on what type of faucet you have). I've only had this installed for a few days, but so far no issues. It heats up fairly quickly and clearly displays the temperature on the front of the heater. ... show more

  • Throttled flow on the discharge on the unit gives you an even heat distribution
Easy to install. I visited a home a building depot and got all the fittings necessary installed. I have this unit running the entire house and it works perfect. I placed a stop cock on the discharge to control the temperature of the water coming out without having to adjust the thermostat on the unit. Currently I have mines set to 108 degrees f and it works fine. The temperature could be increased alot more but that would be scolding hot and I don't want that. I've been using it for four months now and I've had barely any issues. The only issue I have if power goes it doesn't automatically restart where it left off. You would have to manually restart the unit. Other than that it is a great unit to hold on too. ... show more

  • Hot blast, then cool, then slowly warms.
Easy to install. I bought this to suplement our main water heater which is far from the kitchen sink. It winter here so I am pkeased that the water is no longer ice cold. But it isn't hot either. Gives a burst of hot followed by cool, then slowly warms to 30 above line temp. Once the line temp is warmed up it gets hot right away. Should be great once winter is over. It helps a lot but I expected more. ... show more
