  • I'm happy with it, so far!
Color: Gray
After hours of research and days of pondering, I ended up buying the A1 version of this scooter and it arrived 5 days ago. I bought it to replace my former scooter, which lasted me 10 years. The 1st thing I noticed was the handlebars were higher than expected, which was a pleasant surprise. Any adult will be comfortable with them. The little display on the handlebars is pretty cool. It shows the "mode", speed and battery level, which are all I care about. It comes with a screen protector installed that was annoying to me because it wasn't long before it looked like it was coming loose around the edges. At first, I thought it was just the flimsy clear plastic film that I peeled off the headlight. But, after trying to take it off for a few minutes with no success, I finally took a razorblade to it. It was actually still holding on pretty well, even though it looked like it had lost adhesion. It turned out to be pretty thick, like a smartphone screen protector. But it came right off and left no residue behind. I'm sure it would stay on for awhile if I'd left it alone, but the look of it was annoying to me. If you don't mind the appearance, you can leave it on there for protection. The Bluetooth smartphone interface is also cool and has some useful info. In it, I can see how far I've ridden today, how many miles I've put on it overall and the specific battery power remaining (i.e. 82%, vs the 1-5 bars on the scooter's handlebar display). It also has a few settings you can change, like the "mode" (slow, medium, fast, basically) and you can turn on/off the lights and cruise control. You can also choose the startup method (kick to start on/off). The app you need is called "Tuya Smart". It works great. The width of the deck was a bit disappointing to me. I wear a size 12 shoe and I wished the deck was a bit wider, but it turned out to work just fine. It wouldn't hurt my feelings if it were 2" wider, but it's not a show stopping issue for me. I've ridden it for 20-30 minutes per day for the past 5 days. The 1st thing I noticed when I got on it was it felt a bit...unwieldy. I suppose it's no different than other scooters of this style, but my last scooter felt more stable, so this was a surprise to me. That's because my old one had wider, taller wheels and air-filled tires. But, it was also 3 times the price of this one. After about 30 minutes on it, I felt much more comfortable with it, so it turned out to be ok. I can zip around on it just fine now. One reason I chose this scooter was the hard tires. For some reason, my car and my old scooter keep picking up nails in the tires. Roofing nails. I guess a number of the folks in my neighborhood had recent roof work done. Airing up the little tires was a hassle since the wheels are small, the valve stems are small, there's wires and brakes and suspension...so the valve stem has to be in a certain spot in order to access it. Plus, changing the inner tubes was way more of a hassle than working with a bicycle's tires. I just didn't want to deal with air-filled tires any more. The ride is a bit bumpier at times with hard tires, but I feel it's a good trade-off for me. The suspension on this one does work great, but, due to the hard tires, I still feel a lot of bumps in the road and all of the expansion joints in the sidewalks. Again, not a show stopping issue as I've gotten used to it, so now I only notice it on rougher surfaces that last for more than a few seconds (Like yesterday when I happened upon a brick sidewalk, sheesh!). My last scooter was 48v 1000w, so the specs on this one concerned me a bit. I'm 6' 1" tall and 210 lbs, so I expected to not see the listed performance from this scooter. But, I was pleasantly surprised to see the speedo at 22mph while riding it. I'm not sure if it will go slower when the battery is low on power, but I've had it down to 25% and it still did 22mph. On about a 15 degree incline, it only dropped to 15 mph. When I started up that same hill from a dead stop, it still reached 12mph and got up the hill with no problem, which was impressive to me. It actually outperforms my old scooter. As for range, it looks to be about 15-16 miles for me. This was expected, due to my size and the hills around my neighborhood. The headlight is very bright. It's great for making me visible to others and it provides enough light at night to see what's in front of me, giving me time to stop or avoid obstacles as needed. There's also a bell, which has been handy a couple of times. Overall, I'm happy with this purchase and would recommend it to anyone looking for an inexpensive scooter. The only caveat I would add is if you live in an area where you don't have issues with punctures, I would opt for a scooter with wider, air-filled tires. It would give you a smoother, more stable ride. By the way, if I have any issues with the scooter at all, I will update this review. So if you're reading this and I haven't mentioned any issues...rest assured no issues have come up. Cheers! ... show more

  • Inexpensive and reliable transportation or just for fun
Color: Gray
I shopped for a long time, read countless reviews and watched dozens of videos before I settled on this Alloweek electric scooter. I'm a 62yo man living in an urban setting. I'm 5'8" and 163-165lbs and this scooter does just fine. It takes a little getting used to but it isn't difficult at all. I would suggest a school parking lot or some similar location for the first ride. I hopped on it like I knew what I was doing and shot right out into the street before I knew what happened. Fortunately I live in a fairly quiet neighborhood so the street was empty. It has 3 speeds but there are 4 if you use the app. It is said that this machine will reach speeds of up to 20-21mph... I have no idea if it will go that fast or not. Speed seemed important until I actually got on it and rode around but I haven't used the highest speed setting yet. 16-17mph has been plenty fast enough for me so far. I'm glad I got shock absorbers but I'm on the fence regarding the solid rubber tires. My original thinking was getting stuck somewhere with a flat tire and it's still in the back of my mind but I would imagine that pneumatic tires would also offer an even smoother ride. Honestly, the ride isn't bad but every crack in pavement is felt. This is a very portable scooter. It folds up and can be carried just about anywhere. There are carrying straps and even big scooter bags available to make carrying and storing even easier. I downloaded the app and suggest anyone with the Alloweek electric scooter do the same. It makes the scooter a bit more user friendly in that you can disable the scooter so it can't be turned on and it lets you customize a few things. I haven't ridden at night so I can't say much about the headlight besides that it works. It has high low, a daytime setting and a power saving mode and there's also a rear brake light. Apparently the headlight really sucks up the juice so I added an auxiliary light for additional safety and to save the main battery power for riding. I added a handlebar case, a phone holder and I just ordered an insulated drink holder. I'll be zipping around in comfort and style this summer 😎. I'm quite happy with my Alloweek scooter and I'm looking forward to many rides this summer. ... show more

  • Difference in sizes Difference in sizes
Color: gray+red
My daughter was gifted a scooter. So we could travel the city together, I bought one that of the same brand, the “grey-red” version. (In truth, they are all versions of grey-black-red.) The one I bought was the scooter with less technical details in the photos. It turned out to be smaller than my daughter’s. Cons: I don’t love the fact that it the specs were not clear for it. The thing I dislike the most about it are the smaller tires than the other models. The smaller tires are less comfortable and feel less secure going over cracks. Pros: If you want a lighter-weight model, this scooter is significantly lighter weight. It is much easier to pick up and maneuver than the larger, heavier scooter, which feels more stable in some ways but is also definitely cumbersome and even a bit unwieldy. The smaller scooter is smaller in every way, which is good if you are a human under 5’4” tall and of lean-moderate weight. Larger and heavier humans will likely want the larger scooter. When it is fully charged, the smaller scooter seems to go as fast as the larger scooter. (When it is not fully charged, it is slower). For mysterious reasons, the display will say it is not going as fast as the larger scooter, yet they do keep pace. Word of warning: the company doesn’t do free exchanges or return shipping. So think about your purchase before buying. I was going to return the smaller scooter but have decided against it. It works for me in general (although I do wish the tires and were larger). And they certainly are fun! ... show more

  • Underpowered on any hill
Color: Gray
I had rented a powered scooter a few times, and enjoyed playing around on them, so I ordered one as it seemed to have a large motor than alot of the others for sale and thought it was probably closer to the rentals in power. This one is rated for a bit more weight than most, like 265 lbs or something, and had the suspension on front and rear to absorb some of the shock and vibration from the road, so I thought it was a good fit. I rode it around in a mostly flat campground with paved roads for a couple of days, and it seemed okay, although I am suspicious of its claimed speed readout as it seemed highly optimistic. What I did notice immediately was if there was even a slight incline, the scooter would loose power/speed immediately. Trying it more when I got home, it really can't handle even the smallest of hills. if you were on a walking trail with really mild ups and downs you may be okay as the momentum from the previous one might be enough to carry you up the next little one. but if you have any sort of sustained hill, forget about it. Basically it slows down to the point it can no longer stay up right (but reads 5mph at the same time, so like i said i don't believe the speed readout). You could try to assist it up hill like a traditional kick scooter, but its kind of an odd feeling as you are lifting weight off the scooter to kick. The App. You really need to download the app for the scooter, to at least do setup. to be able to do something simple like turn the headlight on, its a simple press again of the power button, but things more complicated than that should probably be done through the app. I for instance changed to MPH, and i turned off the 'cruise' feature which seemed like it would make crashing easier especially for someone newer. There is a lock function in the app, that might help keep kids from goofing around on it if you parked it outside somewhere, but someone could easily steal it regardless, I don't know if the electronic locking would really prevent that as they might not realize they will have problems later till they have already grabbed it and removed it. As I said, I would have tested the speed readout against my phones GPS, but there really isn't room on the handlebars to mount a phone with the accelerator on one side and the clip to hold it while folded on the other. A place that could support a phone would be a nice feature especially if you are navigating an area you are not familiar with and want to have maps open. Based on how easily the scooter is overwhelmed by even a small uphill, I am suspicious of its 500watt motor claim. If its completely flat, it does get up to speed and go fast enough that if you crash, its really gonna hurt, so don't underestimate that. Headlight does work, and there is a rear light that blinks if you are braking, but if its actually dark out (rather than street lights) the light is very feeble, and I had trouble in the dark with the headlight seeing where I was going, depth and speed perception is also limited by the lack of lighting. If you were to actually ride it in the city at night, you should think about putting a blinking light from bicycles on you back or backpack so people can see you from behind and maybe try to figure out a way to have a larger light, but I am not sure how you would mount it. Braking, it is suppose to have dual braking, the electronic breaking is suppose to be recharging the battery. I never noticed any significant braking from the motor, so its all on the single mechanical brake. With the mechanical brake, plan ahead, as it isn't awe inspiring, I could easily see a person crashing if something unexpected changed in front of you (I think this is true on most scooters to some extent). A couple of times i braked hard and jumped off (while holding onto the scooter) as it seemed if you could get you speed down low enough to jump off that you could come to a complete stop faster using your feet rather than just brakes. the folding mechanism seemed to work well, I used it a couple of times, and i tried carrying the scooter a little ways like that. Its heavy, but I could see doing that if you were like shopping downtown or something, I think folding it up and taking it into a shop or restaurant would invoke less comment than leaving it extended and rolling it in somewhere. But I doubt you would want to carry it for any time/distance. The scooter as it came required 4 screws to be used to attach the handle bars, so easy to setup. I was a bit disappointed though that the back of the front fender rubs against the body of the scooter, and you can feel that rub in the handlebars at low speed and I almost thought I had a bad bearing or something. And of course the scrape on the back of the fender doesn't look great. For me, its just too underpowered and I will have to see if I can return it. If you weigh half of its rated weight, maybe you would have a better experience, but I think if you did that many scooters with even the smaller motors would be very useable to you. ... show more
