This vacuum sealer kit is amazing. We were so excited about how well this worked for canning our pickles. Easy to use and saved us time from having to do the water bath method.

Don't expect this to be a professional canner alternative. But for most things, it will probably be just fine for you. I make my own pizza sauce. When I make it, I make a lot. I toss them in mason jars and seal them in my Instant Pot (model with a canner option, aka higher psi). This does a good job and I have them lined up in the garage fridge ready to go whenever needed. I would not use this vacuum sealer for my pizza sauce, but there are a lot of things that need sealing that you don't want to heat up to seal them. Example: Yeast. If I make my own pizza sauce, you'd be right to think I make my own pizza dough. To do that, you need yeast, and a good yeast if you want good dough. I buy in larger quantities to save money, but it might take me a year or so to get though it all. My vacuum attachment for my FoodSaver works ok, but I think this one might work a bit better. And it is a heck of a lot easier to use. Fully charged, I did four empty mason jars and dropped just a few percentage in charge. It has the battery life percentage right on the top, so you know if you need to recharge. It claims to last 500 seals per charge. Not sure about that, but quite possible if jars are mostly full. It sucked the air out and created a good seal. I got the nice pop sound when I opened them. As it mentions in the instructions, it takes about 20 seconds to finish sealing. I didn't time it, but it felt about 20 seconds. One of my lids was not seated perfectly and the sealer ran for a while. I stopped it, reseated the lid and completed the task as expected. The sealer has options. It can handle normal mason jars, smaller jars, and food saver type bags. It came with two food saver bags, one wide mouth mason jar lid and one small mouth mason jar lid. I think this will make an excellent tool to have in the kitchen. And will use it to reseal stuff I store in the kitchen fridge to keep them fresh longer. It is quick and takes little effort to use. If the jar fits and can be sucked, I am going to suck it. Crispy pickles, tasty olives, etc. Glad I got this thing.

This is an update. Now that I have figured out how to use this it works great on most jars. I do a lot of pickling and fermenting and this is a great addition to my kit. You need to make sure to hold the unit tightly to the lid you are trying to seal. If you just place it on top of the jar without pressure it will not work. I have also found that it works well sealing old assorted bottles such as pickle Jam, etc. I like it.

This product will not seal regular mouth mason jars. It can not be pushed down far enough to properly work. In the picture shown by the company the jar is slightly curved. A regular mason jar sides have more of a curve.

The unit is well constructed and it includes necessary things such as lids, and vacuum storage bags. The battery on the unit is good, you can get a great number of seals on a single charge for sure. The vacuum bags are great, they always work and seal properly. When trying to use it on mason jars though, the experience left something to be desired. It generally works, but not always. There are occasions where I cannot figure out why a particular jar / lid combo doesn’t work, but using the same unit and lid on another jar works fine. Then after I pop the lid and try it on the original jar and it works. So I am not sure what it is.
