I dug 52 6" holes 30 inches deep in red Georgia dirt and it worked fine. It is nice not having to deal with a gas motor. With this electric motor, push the button, it turns. Plenty of torque. Do your drilling in short blasts in case of roots. Fair warning, the machine is powerful enough to spin you around and dislocate your shoulder if it catches on a root and you're holding on tight. Huge time saver if you want a lot of holes in a hurry. This is a nice strong auger, the problem is that has no reverse. We needed to open a 2ft hole, and it got stuck. We couldn't get it out for at least ten minutes. Too bad because without reverse we cannot use it. We'll have to return.
