IR mode offers hybrid alignment: feature, texture, and marker tracking. Is the texture resolution really 5MP? Yes, Rockit has a 5MP color camera and advanced texture mapping to deliver high-fidelity, photorealistic 3D models with sharp details and accurate colors, enhancing realism with minimal resolution loss. EinScan 3D scanners embodies simple operation and versatile application in a highly efficient 3D scanning device. Resolution is defining the point distance which the scanner is capturing. The distance between two points in a 3D model is one of the most important factors for your scan. The accuracy gives an information about the authenticity of a 3D model to the real object. Knowing the accuracy of your scanner is very important because it determines whether it is suitable for quality inspection, reverse engineering design, medical health, or any other applications with rigid accuracy requirements.

  • first scanner under 1000 that is actually legit
I don't write reviews often, I tied the pop2 and it was immediately clear it was not going be easy to get good scans. I really wanted an einscan because the videos I saw showed it likely was a legit scanner with great software. I searched around again and happened to find that the einstar just came out, and I was skeptical that this thing would be descent as such a low price point, but I was hopeful because I knew einstars other scanners were probably really good.. but I didn't want to spend 5k to 10k for one of those. So I decided to take a chance, but only because it was prime and I could return it easily. Well, it did not take long to be very pleasantly surprised. This thing is a bargain. I mean 1k is a lot of money, but when you compare it with what is out there, this is nothing short of a breakthrough in price performance. I know I sound like I work for the company but I have nothing to do with them I am just a customer, who got way more than they were expecting, this thing is legit, and it is one of those moments in technology history where you can see a big leap in price/performance being made. A big part of it, and I cannot stress this enough, is the software. These things need to have excellent software in addition to hardware, and the einstar software is very very excellent, refreshingly so. I mean it is not just good for scanning software, it is just very slick and polished and easy to use software in general, and this is coming from me, a nerd who has worked at Microsoft for 30 years. I am overjoyed by this product, it is a revolution, a watershed moment in the world of scanning stuff. I can't wait to see what the next version brings. It is so great to get a product that is way better than your expectations.. I feel like I hope that someone at the company doesn't suddenly realize they are giving us a low prices scanner that is so good that it might cannibalize their higher prices ones, because it is almost as good, I mean it is 1/5th the price, but the resolution is not even close to 5 times worse. It is kind of like when the iPhone came out, it was a big level up in phones, it made all other phones at that price point look like amateurs. This is like the iphone of 1000 dollar scanners, it just kicked every 1k scanner out there to the curb. ... show more

  • It never worked once.
When I bought this scanner a year ago it was selling for $889.00 I got it to scan the inside of my boat so as that I could accurately design the complex shapes that would need to be cut to fit inside of the hull for some cabinetry I am remaking. The unit could not scan, I placed dots, it wouldn't accurately scan, I calibrated over and over, no scan, I adjusted settings, no scan, I downloaded new firmware, no scan, so I figured that my computer must be the issue. So it sat on the shelf for a few months until I bought a new computer. My new machine arrived, it cost me $4,300 has 64GB of RAM and a 4090 graphics card, it should have been able to run the scanner no problem. Still nothing. I have spent probably around 100 hours trying to get this thing to produce a good scan that I can use, IT HAS NEVER WORKED ONCE! Each time the scanner loses it's orientation and I have to start over. Tonight I became so frustrated with trying to make it work that I literally threw it at the wall as hard as I could and solved the issue permanently by destroying it. This was one of the single worst purchases I have ever made. What really makes me mad about this is an app on my 5 year old cell phone was able to do a better job, got a workable scan on my first try, and it cost me $30.00! I should also add that I am a CNC machinist with extensive CAD and CAM experience, I have used other 3D scanners, by comparison this thing was hot garbage. I cannot reiterate enough that after spending near $1000 I never got a single usable scan out of this device and it cost me over 100 hours of my time trying to make it work. Einstar is a dead brand to me. ... show more

  • 3D color scanner with good price and user-friendly software!
The Shining 3D Einstar is a device best used for scanning medium-to-large objects. While its small object performance and ergonomics leave a lot to be desired, it provides excellent results for those looking to get a handheld 3D scanner on the cheap. This 3D scanner features an infrared VCSEL structured light, a 0.1mm resolution, and a RGB color camera. The Einstar 3D scanner is a great option for those looking for an affordable, handheld 3D scanner. It provides good results for scanning medium-to-large objects, but it does have some limitations. The scanner is not suitable for smaller objects, has low capture detail, and is not ergonomically designed. It also has demanding system requirements. However, the device is lightweight and comes with a practical carrying case, making it easy to use and transport. All in all, the Shining 3D Einstar is a good entry-level 3D scanner, providing a good balance between price and performance. ... show more

  • Best deal for a functional scanner
This was/is the best 3d scanner you can buy for sub $1000. The software is decent and the unit scans reasonably fast. I use units at work that are roughly 80k and while this doesn't compare to them it does get you probably 70% of the way there. For a hobbyist or a maker this is the way to go.

  • Best Price/Qualiy Scanner.
It is easy to scan any piece, sometimes you will lose the track but some tip is make your global maker p3 file, using a transparent sheet. When you gonna scan a part you put above and will track your markers. The part of Align 2 o more scans is a plus. Making 3-4 scans I could get the entire piece and after process the model to print. Super Easy and fast. 100% Recommended, if you market is making inverse engineering or Model car parts, you must need a good computer (32-64GB RAM) and a Dedicated graphics card, and knowledge in CAD software. It's a little difficult to replicate 100% a piece. Best regards from Dominican Republic ... show more

  • This Will Certainly Require Some PRACTICE
I bought this EINSTAR scanner to work with my 3D printer. It is well built, and a good value for the money. however, it is NOT as simple as pointing it at something to scan the surface. I am still struggling to get a GOOD scan of simple shapes. I even purchased a photographic turntable to make it possible to hold the scanner steady while the subject rotates slowly in front of the scanner. I am sure it is just a matter of practice, but DO NOT expect to pull this out of the box and start scanning .stl files immediately. ... show more
