This is a nice little trimmer - I hate the maintenance of gas powered yard tools, and they are just too heavy for me. This trimmer was a nice option. It is definitely heavier than my previous electric trimmer (Ryobi), but it is definitely an upgrade. I used it for about 30 minutes, and it still has more than half battery power remaining. I like the battery indicator light, the ease of adding/replacing line, and it is much more powerful than I would have expected an electric trimmer could be. The batter also charges quickly, so I could see this being great for a larger yard too. For anyone who is dumb like me, when you "bump" the trimmer head to let out more line, make sure you do it while the trimmer is rotating. (Nowhere in any online descriptions does it specify that, and I couldn't figure out why more line wasn't feeding at first). Time will tell if this one lasts long, but so far, it is far superior to any electric yard tools I have used in the past. I would highly recommend it. ... show more

It's a little on the heavy side, but is well balanced, even with the heavy 4Ah battery. I have a pretty large yard, and have used it over a couple of days and still have not had to recharge the battery yet. This baby has a lot of power that easily cuts thru the many Bradford pear tree shoots that are all around my trees. Tapping the head on the ground to advance the trimmer line works extremely well. I don't have to pound it on the ground, just a light tap on the ground works great. The automated/powered line loading is a fantastic feature. I am amazed at the power of this trimmer, and it is easy to control the speed with the trigger. I did a ton of research before making this purchase. I am extremely pleased. ... show more

I was quite surprised by the power. I used it on low and it did a great job. Took me about 25 minutes to trim my yard and it still had 3 bars left. I have 17K square feet to maintain. It is a little heavy. I plan to put a shoulder harness on it. It will be good if the price of the batteries come down to a reasonable price. Hopefully it is durable. After using this it will be hard to go back to a gas powered trimmer. ... show more

Yes that sounds dramatic, but it's not an overstatement. This trimmer was such a massive upgrade for me and it has substantially improved my lawn maintenance routine. My previous trimmer was a cheap corded big box store brand and was long past its useful life when I decided to upgrade. I chose the EGO cordless based the outstanding reviews and now I know why it has such high ratings. This was an investment purchase for me (paid off in installments), so I did a ton of research before taking the leap. There was a lot of consensus among YouTubers and bloggers that this was a great product, but I was still a little reticent to drop this amount of cash on an optional piece of lawn equipment. But this baby has proved itself worthy of the price and the reviews! It was very easy to assemble, although I did have to watch a video to see if I was installing the handle correctly. Speaking of the handle, it's very sturdy but also very comfortable and my hand doesn't get tired of holding it. My favorite feature of this trimmer is the automatic string loader. It took me a little fiddling to figure out how to feed my line into the loading holes, but once I did, the magic began! The feeder is a little noisy and you have to keep an eye on it, because it will swallow up the whole string if you don't stop it in time. Don't worry if this happens to you though because it's easy to open up the string chamber and start over. The battery life on this baby is excellent! I've never run out of battery while trimming my lawn. I've used it for an extensive cleanup in my back yard to take down a large amount of brush, and it still didn't get close to running out of charge. The battery docking station was easy to mount to the wall, and the battery is fairly easy to get on and off the trimmer (although it takes a little push to get it on). I saw some reviewers say that the weight of this machine made their arms tired (primarily because of the big battery), but I find the weight to be an advantage. It makes the trimmer feel more sturdy and allows me to make smoother lines when I'm edging. This trimmer has made me a master at edging by the way. I get compliments on my lawn from fully grown dudes all the time (I'm a lil gal), and I can see their envy when I whip this bad boy out. My yard has the cleanest lines in the neighborhood, and I'm very proud of my progress at making crisp edges along my driveway and sidewalk. Overall, I cannot recommend this trimmer highly enough. Assembly was rather easy as the written directions were very clear. Since the trimmer came preloaded with cutting line I did not have to practice the line loading routine discussed in the manuals. I started with a fully charged battery and to do both our front and rear yard planted areas the batteries used only 2 of the 5 lights (~40%) of the 2.5 AH battery capacity to complete the job. I used the system on lower power which did a good job and did not encounter any task that indicated I should go to high power. As the line was being consumed with cutting vegetation, a very short tap of the line holder's "bottom cover" per the manual was all that was necessary to extend the cutting line, and it usually cut off any excess line if the "bottom cover" was depressed too long. It worked quite well. I quickly recharged the batteries when I was done so that the trimmer will be ready for its next use in 1-2 weeks. When I am more familiar with the trimmer and have replaced the cutting line a couple times I'll see if it works as well with some of the 0.080 trimming line I have on-hand from my previous trimmer. ... show more
