  • Powerful and comfortable to use
Style: 21" w/7.5Ah Battery, Touch Drive
This is an amazing machine. Even on its second to slowest setting, it will pull you along at a decent pace. It is a large lawn mower so hopefully you have a good shed or garage to keep it in. The battery life is outstanding, lasting over an hour, especially if I do some of the pushing instead of using the self-propel all the time. I push on the downhill runs and let it pull itself (and me) up the hill. Next to a riding lawn mower, this is the best way to handle large yards. Recharging is quick. Basically, the mower runs out of juice when I do, so I take a break for a half hour or so and then it's ready to finish the job. And it is far quieter than a gas powered mower. I mean, it still makes a bit of noise, as it is a big motor with a large metal blade, but at least the sounds of a combustion engine are absent. That huge battery comes in handy too. My E-GO leaf blower might be easier to handle with the smaller battery, but the big battery lasts a VERY long time in the lead blower. Having one small and one big battery gives you a lot of options for the E-GO stuff. For quick jobs like trimming my front walk way, I just use the lighter smaller battery. If I'm trimming my whole fence line, I use the big battery that came with the lawn mower. It makes the trimmer heavier, and a little awkward to handle, but it's worth it to have the duration. The thing that impresses me about these tools is how they are built. They obviously studied ergonomics and use particularly good plastics for the non metal or carbon fiber parts. The shapes of the handles and angles of the various controls are thoughtful and comfortable. I'm all-in on the e-Go products at this point and so far they haven't ever let me down. I've bought a few more tools that use the same battery. The tools are pretty inexpensive when you don't have to buy a battery. And having a couple of batteries is sufficient for most medium yard sizes. The bottom line is YES, you CAN go full electric for yardwork. No, you won't be sacrificing power. I'd rather deal with the single expense of their batteries than be forced to buy gas every time I have to mow the lawn. Is it cheaper than gas in the long run? Maybe. It's probably going to break even. With batteries that cost over $100 each, I do wonder if I would buy $100 worth of gas every year to run gas tools. Then again, it's not likely that I'll have to replace the batteries every year. They will probably remain strong for several years of seasonal use. Not having to pull-start a mower or trimmer is great. I don't miss that hassle. These guys absolutely nailed it when it comes to rechargeable battery powered yard tools. ... show more

  • Love this mower
Style: 21" w/7.5Ah Battery, Touch Drive
I purchased this unit to replace a gas powered one that served our needs for quite a few years. While the old machine did a great job with the grass and the leaves, the exhaust and gasoline smell was an ongoing issue that I never really liked. Not to mention the yearly oil changes and gas treatments required before the winter comes. After several months of research I narrowed down to the EGO mower after reading multiple reviews by other happy owners. And I was not disappointed. The mower arrived in a well packed big box, completely assembled, only requiring to straighten up the handle once out of the box. The unit is very light to move around, even with the respectable looking 7.5 Ah battery installed that came with it. Actually one person can easily move it with one hand when in use. The controls are relatively straightforward, once you spend a few minutes with the owner's manual to make sure how to operate it. It is self propelled and the forward speed can be adjusted as needed, or just push the mower without any help, being so light. Probably the battery life can be extended a bit if the forward motion is not used. I used this unit every day for the last week and it’s a pleasure to do yard work now. It is very quiet while in operation, allowing the owner to either listen to his/her favorite music or a good book. Very easy to adjust the cutting height using one lever and it cuts the grass or takes care of the leaves quickly and thoroughly. I initially tried the mulching insert with great results, but, eventually, I switched to the collecting bag because of the great amount of leaves I have on my lawn. The 7.5 Ah battery that came with the mower lasts probably close to an hour, although it is difficult to determine because of the numerous times one has to stop and empty the bag, especially when that person has a lot of trees around. Overall it is a great machine, easy to operate and cuts the grass as needed. Definitely worth having and a great replacement for a gasoline mower. ... show more

  • Great mower
Style: 21" w/7.5Ah Battery, Touch Drive
I absolutely love this mower. The very first one I bought was a push mower and after a few years, I got tired of pushing so I ordered the self-propelled mower. I had been using that one for several years and it came up that a friend was in need of a mower so I ordered this new one and gave her the old one. I love love love this mower, it’s so easy to use and clean and it mows wonderful. I highly recommend it. ... show more

  • Great little mower
Style: 21" w/7.5Ah Battery, Touch Drive
This little mower has more than ample power for smallish jobs. You have to be careful with the self people lever as it is fairly easy to move without realizing it and it can jump, possibly making a person with less than optimal balance, like myself fall down. That is the only fault I have found so far. Battery life has been very good and it cuts well. Perfect for my needs ... show more

  • Battery has serious issues - Warning
Style: 21" w/7.5Ah Battery, Touch Drive
I bought this to use at a new house with a new lawn. It worked one time, then the battery started acting weird. It would indicate it was fully charged and then be dead when I put it in the mower. This morning, it indicated fully charged and, when I put it in the mower and pressed the button on the battery, nothing. I put it back on the charger and now it doesn’t light up at all. Been sitting on hold with EGO for 45 minutes so far with no response but an automated message. Did some research and EGO had some serious problems with their batteries. This particular battery costs $400 by itself and they really don’t know what they’re doing. Do yourself a favor and research all the issues with their batteries before you buy. Go with the Dewalt or a brand that isn’t a just a company that buys garbage from China and doesn’t support their products. Kudos to Amazon for refunding this terrible purchase. ... show more

  • Plastic deck?
Style: 21" w/7.5Ah Battery, Touch Drive
I have given my review 4 stars ⭐️ because the engineering is basically very good. Easy to use, battery is sufficient (except when mowing heavy grass) like the features that it offers with the exception of one. The plastic deck, poly carbonate, or otherwise, I don’t think it’s the best thing for a mower deck. Also, the shaft, which holds the blade on the bottom looks fairly thin, compared to a regular engine mower. And short, this mower would be great for a normally well-kept lawn. (without lots of debris in the grass like rocks or toys or anything else). If you have a rough lawn one like out in the country or somewhere where there are lots of toys or other debris that can hit the blade, I feel that it would only be a matter of time that the shaft would be knocked out of alignment. Also, the pinging I hear when something in the lawn hits the deck , no matter how small it is, concerns me. I see there are other models made by ego that have an aluminum deck, and if I had to do it all over again, I would probably get one of those. However, so far it has been an efficient machine, well engineered, good features, and plenty of power to mow the lawn. I’ve had the lawnmower a couple of months now. So far so good. Follow up: Haven’t had the machine now for a full mowing season, I have to say it’s been a pleasure to use over the gas versions I was using. Lighter, more efficient, bagging works well or even heavy grass if you take your time and dump them more often. Now that I have learned to use the machine with this little ins and outs, I’ve learned that the self propel mechanism being an electric motor is best when used as to start the momentum of the machine when in tight spots or an incline, then push the machine yourself so that the mechanism doesn’t jump as it sometimes will when you engage and disengage the self propelled motor. In all, I would give it a thumbs up for the season. ... show more

I have had this lawn mower two years in August- I am 63 female and love it! -- My property is almost a quarter acre and it takes me three days to mow the whole area lol - So charging in-between gives me a break in between- But the battery will hold out for almost the entire area, down to the last 200 square feet about..
