  • Was very skeptical, but now I am super impressed with this mower and the battery tech. LOVE IT!
Style: 21" w/7.5Ah Battery, Select Cut
My mower: LM2135SP POWER+ Mower 21" Select Cut™ System with Touch Drive™ Self-Propelled Kit (7.5Ah Battery) It came with an extra FREE 5Ah battery when I bought it. I'm in the honeymoon phase, but this mower has been amazing! I am DEEPLY impressed with my EGO battery tools, and this is coming from a heavy skeptic and heavy pre-purchase researcher. I was turned off by the stupid, modern aesthetics of the EGO mowers, but compared to everything else on the market, the EGO mowers seemed to get the best reviews. I am just annoyed by the modern, crinkly design aesthetic. The mower *could* be a smooth turtle shell design, which would be amazingly easy to clean with a single wipe. Instead we've got a plastic shell that has infinite creases, slopes, flats, valleys, hard-to-reach areas and whatever. But I guess that's what people like these days. So I grabbed this deal (with the FREE extra 5Ah battery, and I am so glad that I did! Firstly, this mower is way lighter than I was expecting. It looks like a monster in the listing, but it's actually extremely light. Love the front and rear handles, great design! I am replacing a 30 year-old Black and Decker corded electric mower, and this new EGO mower is much lighter. And yes, my corded mower lasted me 30 years! I bought it in 1995. I'm not expecting the same from the EGO, but it is often true that "they don't make 'em like they used to". My lawn is about 3000 square feet and it has lots of obstacles and crinkles, but is generally flat. This mower has a self-propelled mode that is nice and easy to use, but I mostly don't need it. You can easily push or pull this mower with one hand. My grass is not "lush" and the cut with the stock blade setup is excellent to me. Also, I have always bagged my grass, but now I have decided to just use the side discharge chute and HOLY MOLY I cannot believe how well this mower mulches. The grass coming out of the chute is almost like a powder. I'm not joking. This mower has way more power than I was expecting! You can hear the grass being sliced by the fast moving blades as you go. The design of the grass side chute, though, is surprisingly lame. It just kind of wedges in position with the rear, spring-loaded door just kind of lopsidedly holding it in place. Still works though. Love the 4 position handle, and the grass cutting height adjustment is crazy easy to use... but it was also easy on my old corded mower. Secondly, I was able to mow my entire lawn, trim my entire lawn, and clean up with a blower with a SINGLE 7.5Ah battery that had two full bars left over when I finished. Astonishing. (yes, I also have the EGO trimmer/blower combo) I have large oak trees in my lawn, and I have to be sure now to clear the lawn of the twigs and such that fall from these trees. The EGO mower is light for a reason... it doesn't feel like it could withstand having twigs smashed around on the underside. If I didn't clear the debris, I would expect to have cracked and holey plastic around the blades. But this is all just speculation at the moment. I do kind of wish the blade area was made of metal. ... show more

  • Great Machine
Style: 21" w/7.5Ah Battery, Select Cut
When my gas-powered Toro died this spring, I chose to go electric. I did a lot of searching and comparison before deciding on this mower. I have a zoysia lawn which is very thick when growing. I also have a pool so I had to find a mower that would effectively bag the clippings. This mower seems a bit pricey but it was worth it. This unit has enough torque to get through the lawn with relative ease. I use the high-throw blade and all the clippings bag like my old gas mower. When the lawn is really thick, it will use all the battery power (but I have other Ego units) so there is no problem. I love this mower, no gas, no oil, no spark plug, no air filter, so much less maintenance. I also LOVE the fast charger. ... show more

  • Great power, rugged construction
Style: 21" w/7.5Ah Battery, Select Cut
This mower is awesome! Plenty of power. The 7.5Ah battery has plenty of capacity. I've used a 5Ah battery and it powered the mower for over an hour. The self propel speed is infinitely adjustable and easy to use. Aluminum deck is sturdy and will never rust. This thing performs well and will definitely last. ... show more

  • First mow in the books!
Style: 21" w/7.5Ah Battery, Select Cut
Wow, as a gas mower user all my life (I'm 72), this thing kind of overwhelmed me! I quickly read through the booklet after registering it and awaaaay I went ....... literally! First; I immediately unpacked the charger and battery and got that going. The battery had 25%. That fully charged in about an hour. I then put the extra 5aH battery in to charge while I mowed my lawn. That was fully charged from 25% in about 30 minutes (or less!). The mower set up was a learn as you do it kind of thing for me. I'd watched several videos prior to this arriving so I had somewhat of an idea. The mower came with the high lift blade and mulcher blades already installed. I assembled the grass catcher bag and pulled the mulching plug out and attached the bag. (I know, you're not supposed to bag while mulching but not being familiar with how this will work out, I wanted to bag the front yard). It took me a minute to figure out the self propel system, setting the speed was really tricky for me. Got that figured out enough to get it to my starting point in the yard and began "running" behind the mower but it wasn't cutting! Back to my shop to read further in the booklet! Ha. Ok push the button on the panel while pulling back the "bale" ...... WHIRRRRRRR, whoa, keep that bale squeezed and push on the button (either side or both) and off I went. Waaaaay to fast so I rotated the speed adjustment dial back ....... too slow......... back up slowly until the run turned into a jog. pant, pant. Off I went. This thing blazed through my slightly overgrown grass without missing a beat. More speed adjustments (seemed nearly constant). What I noticed that I didn't like was that the self propel wheels are the rear rather than front. Coming to a corner or turning around meant releasing the handle buttons for the control, keep the bale depressed so the blade keeps going, tilt and turn then go again. If you release the bale and the blade stops, you have to push the button on the control panel while simultaneously squeezing the bale ....... hassle. With the drive wheels pushing rather than pulling, if you don't release the drive button(s), the mower will want to still go. Another "issue" is that the front end is very light not having a drive motor or set up there. I noticed that if I hit a bump it wanted to lift and missed mowing a small part of the lawn as the drive wheels were still pushing. I'm sure as I use this thing, I will get the hang of it and operating it will be second nature. Old dawgs just have a bit slower learning curve! All in all, I have to say that I AM IMPRESSED! No smell, no gas, no oil. I found it interesting that it still "sounded" like a mower! I guess that is just the blade zipping through the grass. As for the grass, my relatively smallish front yard filled the bag. Upon emptying it, I was intrigued by the tiny cut blades. My gas mower with a mulching blade never cut it that small. I can see how mulching without a bag would "fertilize" the lawn with these cut pieces. Oh, I should mention that the height adjustment offers several. I did my front yard on 2. This was too low. I moved the adjustment to 4 on the back and truly mulched that. It may have been too high. I will reset it to 3 for my lawn. Just so you know, I didn't see anything in the nice book about what is higher. I guess just moving the lever would have shown me but if you're a typical "guy", you want to experience the new toy quickly! Any way, the higher the number, the higher the cut height. Summary: This is a great mower. It's an adjustment from gas but that's the way the world is going, like it or not. The cost may be a bit higher than a similar quality gas mower but not much at the discounted price on Amazon. Why buy old technology? ... show more
