Description

Happiness is a well-behaved dog. Designed with safety in mind, the Easy Educator EZ-900 is a 1/2-mile range trainer for small to medium sized dogs 10 pounds and up with neck size 5 to 22-1/2 inches is loaded with features, making it the most humane and effective trainer available. The stimulation levels range from 0-100. Maximum and "lock-and-set" features help prevent overstimulation. 7 vibration + 4 tone settings allow customization for each dog. COS (control of stimulation) technology provides clean stimulation without the head jerking found with other collars. The boost feature adds extra stimulation range of 1-60. The tapping sensation used is similar to vibration, but more intense, making it an effective addition to the stimulation. A patented Instant Stimulation Mode eliminates surprise of stimulation when applying levels above 30. Stimulation can only be applied from zero and turning the dial up until the desired response is achieved. Great for boundary training, aggressive dog aversion training, sport training and situations requiring precise control and pressure. The transmitter ergonomic design allows you to watch your dog. A tracking light on the transmitter allows you to flash or continuously light the receiver to locate your dog after dark. A beeper can be turned on to help locate a lost transmitter. Transmitter and receiver can be charged using the included dual charger, or micro USB charger. What's in the box: 1 miniature collar receiver, 1 waterproof ergonomic transmitter with lanyard, 1 3/4" x 30" waterproof odorproof Biothane collar, 2 sets of contact points (5/8" and 3/4"), contact removal tool, dual battery charger (120V/220V), belt clip, manual w/training tips. We strive to make you successful with your training collar and your complete satisfaction is our only concern. We offer a two-year full manufacturer warranty on transmitters and receivers, and one-year warranty on accessories. Please refer to included owner’s manual for training tips or call toll-free for expert help with set-up, training, troubleshooting and registering your Educator product. • Great product and exceptional customer service
Size: 1 Dog
Great product. We had a rescue pup who spent the first part of his life at a laboratory/testimg facility. He had some serious resource guarding and reactivity issues which was understandable considering what he had been through. Unfortunately, many training methods had been tried and failed. Regardless, we were not going to give up on him. His reactivity started turning toward us and other pups in our pack. We found a new trainer with a "can do" attitude and who shared our philosophy to never give up on a pup, especially one who had such a rough start through no fault of his own. We were reluctant to use an e-collar (most folks think of this as the old "SHOCK" collars, as did we). Our new trainer changed our perspective after allowing us to use one on our wrists while explaining how to appropriately use the device to communicate and not as punishment, similar to click training which did not work for this particular pup. Needless to say, after a couple more months of hard work, he really came around. This form of communication worked where treats, praise, and other communication/corrective methods were ineffective. Is he a perfectly behaved dog? No. But 95% of the time he is. So much so, that he passed his AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) certification and is working toward his Service level accreditation. We have had this collar for over a year. A few weeks ago the transmitter started acting up and not holding the stimulation level consistently. We typed an email to E-collar Technologies over the weekend and explained the issue. They responded first thing Monday morning with a polite email saying they knew what issue was and simply asked for the address to send us a replacement. That is a level customer service I was not expecting and what is commonly lacking these days. I will definitely recommend their products to anyone looking for an effective e-collar and a company that stands behind their products. ... show more

  • Amazing! Get one...seriously
Size: 1 Dog
If you're on the fence get this! Most amazing training tool I've ever used with a dog. I introduced this collar to my 3 year old Rottweiler. In 2 days I was not only able to walk my dog off leash if I wanted to... He also finally learned to drop the ball when retrieving it, comes to me without being asked multiple times, he ignores all distractions including cats, squirrels, rabbits, other dogs and loud kids. His response to my verbal commands are immediate. I do not feel this collar is a replacement for training and effort. However it took my 3 years of effort, training and attention with my dog and gave me an overnight boost and immediate reinforcement that motivated my dog to respond to commands he already knew. This collar has a 0-100 range. I use 12-18 with my 100lbs Rottweiler and I often go 3-4 days between having to give him a reminder knick/buzz. I can't even feel the the knick at 12 and only by 20 do I start to feel the shock when I use it on myself. My dog now responds better off leash than on. The LED on the collar is super bright and works as a flashlight when walking him at night and also makes him highly visible to others. The collar also has an audible beep and vibrate function. It truly is waterproof, I've spend day after day at the lake or pool with zero issues, despite the charging port looking questionable to me. Battery indicators work well and the device maintains a super super long life. I just spent a week in the mountains and brought the wrong charger for the collar. After 7 days of use it still had a charge, albeit flashing red, when I returned home today. Seriously can't say enough good about this ecollar. Get one! I'd be very careful and test it on yourself. Also start small, if 15/100 is all a Rottweiler with a crazy pain tolerance needs I feel max power could be very very detrimental to a dogs psychology. ... show more

  • GREAT BUY
Size: 1 Dog
Great product, as this has helped correct my dog with certain unwanted behaviors and has helped me get his recall on a better path. The e-collar did help in a situation where he was not listening to my voice commands on vacation, where the property did not have a fence. He went too far near the road, and I heard a car approaching, and he still was not listening. Thanks to the e-collar, he came back. I think this is one of the safest products out there and tested and used for training by many, so I believe that the money is worth it. Battery life is great, more so on remote, but I don't need to charge that often. I would say this is not necessarily "easy to use" because you have to know what you're doing and how to properly train a dog using an e-collar (this is not a con, just my opinion). Essentially, if you don't have any background in that or have looked up training videos, I would say to do so first, so you know how to use it. In terms of the device itself, I was on YouTube constantly looking up which buttons do what because I'm a visual learner. NOTE: "Instant" mode can only be downloaded when you plug the device into the computer and download software. I was not aware of that until I called customer support, and someone helped me. KNOW YOUR DOG! This product comes with short prongs and longer prongs. However, my dog is EXTRA FURRY, so I had to purchase the 1" (extra) long prongs separately (great for long haired dogs, etc.), from the EZ website. These were only like $10-$15, but I wish there was an option to switch out or choose which prongs when you initially buy. The extra long prongs I sometimes have a problem with becoming loose (product still works and shock is received) because the tool to unscrew the short ones and the other prongs it comes with does not fit the extra long ones. Something to keep in mind. ... show more

  • Outstanding for training my three roamers!
Size: 3 Dog
The Educator EZ 1/2 Mile Dog Training Collar was worth every penny, and more! Before I got the 3 ecollars, my 2 Australian Shepherds and 1 German Shepherd [all young and full of energy], loved to go on walks/runs in the mountains; but only came back with me half the time. Sometimes they wouldn't return for a day or two. It only took 1 ecollar run for the puppies to get with the program and always stay within sight AND ALWAYS RETURN. After a month, I might need to 'stimulate' one of the dogs once per week; we run every day. I am hugely satisfied with the ecollars. SOME TIPS/SUGGESTIONS/OBSERVATIONS 1. FWIW - I found the constant stim mode most useful for my dogs. Vibration, tone, and momentary stim worked, but constant stim was more flexible. Specifically, I could change the intensity for a particular dog which depends on the dog, how errant he is being [just wandering around out of sight vs. chasing a deer] and how tight his collar is on, and I could do it in the field. 2. To me, the manual was semi-opaque. Everything was there, but I had to re-read it a bunch of times. 'Could be just me. 3. BUT ECOLLAR'S PHONE/EMAIL SUPPORT WAS OUTSTANDING. Easy to reach and understand, strong followup. 4. go to youtube for lots of good videos on how to use the ecollar with your dog. ecollar isn't a dog training outfit. They just make a wonderful tool for training. 5. When my dogs see the collars, they run to me to have the collars put on them! So for newcomers, I'd stress [like everyone else who's used them] that you're not shocking your dog, only painlessly getting their attention. 6. You'll probably be stunned by how quickly your dog[s] get with the program. Again, I am absolutely satisfied with my 3 ecollars. ... show more

  • Great training tool and possible life saver
Size: 1 Dog
This type of e-collar delivers a very, very low stimulation that causes a muscle twitching sensation. Almost every day at the dog park I have skeptics hold it in their palm and "zap" them at the level I am using to communicate with my dog, usually 12 out of 100. Many people don't feel it until it is 20/100 or above! The sound feature is a great replacement for clicker training. I plan on exploring the different programming options as my dog's capabilities evolve, but right now am very happy with the settings provided. My dog has only yelped once when I had to activate the collar at 60/100 because he stumbled across a rabbit in the woods and he was GONE. Without the collar I don't know at what point he would have realized he was away from me and I had little chance of catching him. I gave it 4/5 stars for two reasons, the vibrating setting seems more abrasive than the low electrical setting and the remote controller did break after a few months of use. The vibration is about twice as vibratey as a large cell phone and I opted to never use it. The remote controller screen did slowly stop displaying, but I used the locking mechanism to keep the stimulation level at the level I wanted and the remote has continued to function. The remote is decently sturdy and well-built, but I have butterfingers and literally threw the remote down a flight of stairs, kicked it across the side walk, and knocked it off my desk onto hardwood floor daily. If the remote survived that I would have given this product a 6/5 but I just ordered a new remote instead and now I have a "new" one for inside only and a "broken" one outside only. ... show more

  • A chair can be a seat or it can a weapon, it's up to you how you use it.
Size: 1 Dog
First and foremost, test the unit on yourself first. Second, make sure the unit is working properly. I had to send a unit back because the red button on the side would get stuck down when pressed. This company has a great reputation and they are known for quality, but there are cracks in every system and I got a defective unit. The replacement worked perfectly. DON'T CHEAP OUT and buy some of the cheaper brands of e-collars. Your dog will end up paying for the money you saved. If you thoroughly understand leash pressure you will have no issue learning to use this tool and it will take you and your dogs relationship to the next level. If you don't, watch youtube videos, read books, or take classes. In my opinion, you should have taught your dog everything using classical and operant conditioning methods, that give your dog a clear understanding of what you are asking of him or her. The e-collar can then be used to reinforce those already known commands, after they are taught what the stimulation means on the lowest perceivable level to them. Eventually your dog will only need to wear the collar as an emergency back stop, rarely used, except for refresher training. If you put in the time and read some of the books out there on e-collar training by Larry Krohn, The monks of New Skeete and Marc Goldberg, and Ted Efthymiadis for example, you will have a guide by which to use this tool. Don't just put it on your dog and try to figure it out. You will ruin your relationship with your dog. There is a learning curve and you will make mistakes, but as you and your dog start to understand this new language, you're going to see your dog much happier, more confident and your relationship is going to flourish if you're doing everything right. When you become fluent in the language, you're going to have a best friend who understands you clearly, respects you, and can be trusted off leash. There are people in this world that will negligently, or purposefully misuse tools. There are also people who don't understand many tools and think they are too scary and dangerous for anyone to use. Be an ambassador for this technology. Don't let those two groups ruin it for the rest of us. ... show more

  • HUGE game changer
Size: 3 Dog
I have 3 dogs and they're all crazy in different ways - one rescue GSD that wants to attack any person or dog that comes near him, one GSD that's afraid of her own shadow, and one bernadoodle that wants to get into a shouting match with any dog he sees. The dog trainer I use recommended this specific brand - I bought a cheap version before that did nothing. This one, however, is easy to use, has a great system so I can easily control 3 dogs at once, and with the right training, my dogs all of a sudden listen! Didn't take them long - I've been using this for just a few weeks and it's made a huge difference in my dogs' behaviors. The Educator brand is more expensive than others, but worth every penny. Certainly less expensive than a bad incident that could happen with unproperly trained dogs. Highly recommended!! One word of advice, my bigger GSD has a thick coat around his neck, so I also bought the Educator CPAD-011 Dog Training Collar Receiver, which is a small replacement attachment to the receivers [the metal prongs that make contact with the dog's neck] with wings. That was a very good purchase as well - made it so he doesn't have to wear the collar so uncomfortably tight. ... show more

  • Full charge does not last 8 hours and reprogramming between settings is a pain
Size: 4 Dog
I love this product, but you must charge it daily even if you hardly used it. I also do not like that you can only program one setting to each dog. For example if you want to toggle between stimulant or vibration you have to program one or the other on the remote. Where as dogtra you have two different buttons so you don’t waste time having to reprogram between the two UPDATE I changed this review to a one star because of the four dogs one dog is not responsive. I’ve done everything that I can to reset it repair it. I even reached out to the company who stated since I bought it on Amazon there is no warranty for me to have even though it’s under a year so now I’ve just become a bigger dogtra fan because they would’ve taken care of me, regardless of where I purchased it. So anything educator will never buy ever again. ... show more
