The Educator Zen-302 1/2-mile 2-dog training collar system for small to medium sized dogs 10 pounds and up with neck size 5 to 22-1/2 inches is loaded with features, making it the most humane and effective trainer available. Made for smaller hands or situations where discretion is important, the waterproof mini transmitter remote is 2.6" diameter x 1.1" thick. The receiver emits a tapping sensation, similar to intense vibration, and includes a Pavlovian tone delivering clean, effective stimulation. The finger clicker provides an audible clicking noise for additional training options. The user-selectable levels range from 1 to 100 with "lock and set" technology to prevent overstimulation. A boost feature with a range of 1 to 60 gets your dog’s attention when extra stimulation is needed. The transmitter "stopwatch" design is ergonomic, controls a tracking light with either flash or continuous on the receiver for use after dark. A beeper can be turned on to help locate a lost transmitter. System is for dogs 10 pounds and larger, includes miniature waterproof floating transmitter remote with lanyard, two waterproof RX-090 miniature receivers (2" x 1.5" x 1"), two 3/4" x 30" waterproof, odorproof Biothane collars, rechargeable lithium polymer batteries charge in just 2 hours, quad battery charger (120V/220V), test light, four sets of contact points (2X 5/8" and 2X 3/4"), contact point installation tool, finger clicker and color storage box. Today was my first day trying these out on my 13lb Spitz and 5lb Pomeranian. Lola my pom is a yapper, and Leo my Spitz is an alert dog so they were constantly barking at every sound they heard outside, every dog they passed, and every person that walked by. I could never open my patio door or take them to the park. I tested this on a low setting on my arm before attaching them to my dogs. I couldnt really feel anything at 9, but there was definitely a buzz on 12-13. I kept it on 12 for a bit to get them conditioned, and slowly increased it to an 18- where Im keeping it at for now. The point is to startle and distract them when barking and not hurt them, so i dont see a reason for going any higher; especially on small dogs like mine. Lola is stubborn and doesnt come when called, but after one zap, she comes the first time. To test/train them, I walked them both by all the apts with dogs (especially ones sitting out on the patio) to see if they'd bark, which of course they did. But one zap and that stopped. I then quickly told them QUIET and rewarded them with praise and a treat. After they got used to not barking, I even took them both off their leashes. Leo usually gets excited and runs off, but not this time! I called and zapped him when he didnt listen and he came running back and remained by my side (both of them) for the remainder of the walk. The device was even good for training them to leave something when they were eating/sniffing at something they wereng supposed to. Again, Id zap once and when they stopped, Id say LEAVE IT and praise them and give a treat. Id say our first go was a success and with consistent training, this will work like a charm. The only downside is maybe that the collar is a little heavy for small dogs. The strap is super long so you can cut it to fit your dog, but the device is on the bulky/heavy side. ... show more

Worth the money. They work really well and I love the ease of using them. I love the dual dog feature and you can even lock in a number instead of having to constantly turn the dial back and forth if two dogs need different numbers. When you send a shock the control turns red. My only wish is that there was a way to see if the shock was delivered or not - seeing as if it's a half mile range, sometimes the dogs will run into the woods and I cannot see them. I'm assuming that if the controller turns red, that means the shock was delivered. I am curious if it would turn red if the dogs go out of range. It is on my to do list to experiment eventually. ... show more

We have spent hundreds of dollars on training collars and trying to find the right one. This collar is amazing for large dogs (German Shepherds) and we have never had to use the shock feature either. They respond well to vibration. Will never use another brand.

    • Almost great, but one major flaw

I love these collars in so many ways. They really do everything they're supposed to and have truly helped our pups with their behavior and listening skills. Our only issue (and its a huge issue) is with the battery life. On a full charge with very infrequent use, we barely get a full day out of them. We expected longer life than that. Our wireless petsafe system collars would last for months before needing a battery replacement. The rechargeable of the ecollar is obviously cheaper than battery replacement, but considerably more inconvenient. Especially when we forget to charge them overnight and then have dead collars in the morning when needing to let them outside. I really want to recommend these collars, but for the price I just can't due to the terrible battery life. ... show more

When I was looking for a reliable dog collar for our two labs to go hiking off leash with us they have great re call to start with this is just a fail safe for them so minimal use I owned the system for about 1 year and 1/2 it took about 6 mnts of about once a week use for the antenna to crack it took about a year for the collars them selves to not hold charge as long once again charging weekly once when used as needed and it’s now 1 year and a half in and the button for the controlling the amount of stimulation no longer works and I have stop spend about a min or two to get it on the right setting my one dog needs at most a 5 or so but the other needs higher so as I go between them I no longer can so I be investing in a dogtra system next to keep my boys safe and will be disappointed at this product that I spent mnts looking into ... show more
