  • Edifer WiFi Stereo Wireless Speakers with Tidal Connect
If you consider yourself an Audiophile, and in the market for a pair of small wireless speakers, drop 2 Edifer MS50A's in your shopping cart and enjoy. Let me repeat two words ... Tidal Connect! Perform a 5 minute "Stereo WiFi" setup with the Edifer app, open Tidal Music, select MS50A... press play. Thats it folks, no drama, no jumping through hoops, no enlisting your kids for help. Seriously I've been looking for true wireless speakers my entire life, "Stereo" wireless speakers are ultra rare, go ahead and search. The problem is getting the left/right speakers to start at the same nano-second without wires, get this timing wrong and you get mid-fi sound. (The big 3 have plenty of these toy cloth lined speakers for sale on this website.) If you dig dig deep you can find a handful of other more expensive options but they all have their drawbacks, besides the cost. Even Edifer offer's only 1 additional wireless set, the S1000W's, but alas you need to hook wires to the passive speaker. La de da ditty da. While the MS50A's now live on my office desk as Nearfield Monitors, I tested them in my main 30X40' listening space. They create a huge stereo soundstage that dances and flows like real Hifi, even moving a little air, I measured -9db at 50hz. Outstanding! Not found in any other review, I discovered these speakers now show up inside the WiiM app, this brings an entire palate of musical choices. (See WiiM for all the playback options.) Wait it gets better, I unplugged my WiiM Pro and the MS50's continue to play. This means the MS50's are supported natively, no need for a WiiM device in your house. Like a poor mans Roon Remote, the free WiiM app gives you total control from any device in your house, including MacOS. You can even group WiiM's and MS50's together for a whole house party mode. Within the WiiM app you can touch the speaker icon and make it L, R or LR stereo. This allows you to separate them and place one on the front porch and one in the garage. I take mine out on the lanai when I BBQ, or drag one down to the gazebo. In LR mode you can even select entirely different music for that zone and control the volume ... and the hits just keep on coming with WiiM! The Edifer's are not Roon Ready but they do show up as Airplay devices on Roon. No Chromecast as yet, but they do offer full Amazon functionality. For high quality music streaming you have Qobuz/Tidal/Amazon Unlimited via the WiiM app. While Tidal Connect unfolds MQA(MAX) it tops out at 48/16 (High) when steaming HiRes Flac for now. No matter, all sound outstanding to me. Honestly I don't think there's any other WiFi Stereo speakers on the planet with this much flexibility, functionality, and stereo sound quality. Definitely not at this price! ... show more

  • Good choice for smaller spaces
We bought one for my mother (80+) so she could stream music from her laptop to the main room of her apartment (concrete, metal stud walls). Getting the device connected to your WiFi network is no easier than it is for any other speaker or device of this sort (and not any harder, either), but once you do, the device appears as an ApplePlay device, and does a creditable job filling the room it's in with full-spectrum sound. Works reliably. Clever volume control on the device itself. The least functional part of the product is the app you have to install to configure the device: it didn't work well at all on a Pixel 6a, but worked adequately in on an iPhone. ... show more

  • Won't stay plugged into the speaker
Sound quality is very good....When it works. I knew this is NOT a wireless speaker, which is ok. BUT, the wire is not attached to the speaker, and WON'T stay plugged in to the speaker. I tried moving it, not moving it, placing it a certain way, etc etc. It's unreliable: you never know when the wire will come loose and stop working. It's too frustrating and I am returning it. ... show more

  • Good for background sound
I bought several of these specifically to have background music or ambient sounds playing in multiple rooms, and for that it works very well. The sound quality is good, but certainly it is nowhere near a high-end stereo system, and shouldn't be expected at this price point and for the speaker size. But, it serves really well for the intended purpose. The speaker cabinet is on the smallish size which I like, and allows easy placement without dominating the space. Bluetooth setup was straight forward like with any Bluetooth device. The multi-room functionality works specifically with Amazon music (not sure if you need to be a Prime member) or with Spotify. You can not use a computer to directly play multi-room music, though music can be played to a single speaker per computing device via Bluetooth. Setting up the wifi connection was slightly problematic. !. Download the Edifier app to a phone or tablet. 2: Using the app, connect the speaker to your wifi system using the same network that your other Alexa devices are connected to. 3. Register the speaker using the Edifier app with Amazon. 4. Use an Alexa device (which could be an Alexa app). 5. Use the Alexa app to assign the Edifier speaker to a room and then combine multiple rooms (look up YouTube videos if you have trouble figuring this out.) 6. Once all that is done, tell Alexa to play music to your speakers either from free Prime streaming or from your Amazon music library, such as "Alexa, play music from my playlist Piano everywhere." If everything has worked correctly then music should begin playing on all the set up speakers. There was a glitch when I tried to set it up, and speakers were initially listed in Alexa as offline, even though they weren't. Try powering down the speakers and turning them back on, or verify the correct network connection to see if that works. But, I did get everything working. I don't have Spotify so I can't say anything about that. So, overall a good option for a wifi-connected multi-speaker system, and woks well as a single Bluetooth speaker too. Build quality of my three speakers is excellent. ... show more

  • Unexpected setup requirements
The speakers themselves are good looking and sounded pretty nice the few minutes I used them. That said they did not serve the purpose I bought them for. 1) You need to download an app to use them. 2) There are a few extra steps as opposed to a Bluetooth speaker. 3) They do not work with with Google Home/Nest for smart controls, they did connect to the WiFi network. 4) They do not have a battery. Reading through the comments I could have learned all those things and a few of them I already knew. If none of that bothers you. So far as I can tell they're a great speaker at a reasonable price. ... show more

  • Speaker work fine for use with Bluetooth and Spotify
I have owned this speaker for about a year now. The sound quality is good, but I feel it could be better. I am not sure; I do have this in a kitchen, so the space is not the best acoustically. Something just seems slightly unbalanced about the sound you sit it on a surface. The speaker just needs a small stand. Sounds great elevated just a few inches. I have not had issues with a connection like others have described. But I set mine up months ago. So the app could have changed. I did have to reconnect it about two months ago. Still no major issues with reconnecting it. It connects to my Spotify app perfectly, and there are no issues with Bluetooth; it works great. I also have connected this and my Apple TV to my Spotify app at the same time to have music throughout the house. It's a little fickle, but it works (I think it's more the app than the unit). I am also considering ordering another unit for my dining room. So, I do feel like it is a good product. It's not perfect, but you are getting a lot of tech for the money. ... show more

  • Very Inconsistent
After reading the mixed reviews, I rolled the dice and purchased one of these. I planned on giving one a try and seeing if it was worth buying multiple to place throughout the house. The first unit worked ok, for the most part. It sounded good, looked nice. It would drop out periodically, but didnt seem like a big deal. I went ahead and bought a second to make a group and I've had nothing but issues. I've removed them and re-paired them, unplugged them for an extended period and they still drop the sound. Sometimes one craps out and the second keeps going. Sometimes they both stop. I would save your money for another product. Update: After reaching put to Edifier describing my issues, I was sent a replacement. After connecting the new speaker, I figured out one of the original 2 was definitely faulty. It works ok by itself, but as soon as its a part of a group, it consistently cuts out. With the faulty unit removed from the group, I added the new speaker and there was definitely an improvement. That said, after about 20 minutes of use, they both cut out for about 30 seconds or so. Have tried them for several hours of continuous use, this issue persists, which leads me to believe the product is not-quite-there. I keep my original rsting of 2 stars. ... show more

  • Multiples speakers a breeze to setup
I made my first purchase of this speaker based on two key elements; First, it looks good and second, it has no microphone (we already have phones and kids to ignore us, no need for another device to blow us off). I found it fairly straight forward to set up using the phone app where I could name each speaker by location in the house which makes it easy to choose via AirPlay Since the first purchase, I have now grown my collection to six (they get discounted frequently here on Amazon) and love walking room to room and having continuous music without having to run. I mostly stream from the iPhone using AirPlay, but there is a bluetooth mode as well which I haven't really explored. One feature we really like is that my wife and I can each control different speakers with our own selections in different rooms using different streaming platforms from our phones. All in all, it's a solid wireless speaker with sound quality rivaling any bluetooth devise out there and it doesn't look or feel like a toy or rugged plastic mass of mesh and colors. ... show more
