BLUF (Bottom Line Up Front): The look is high quality wood grain contrasted with black topped with quality removable fabric covered driver grills. The sound is solid... no hissing, buzzing or the like. The setup is super user friendly, even non-technical people will easily be able to complete it. I broke the remote (My fault) and was actually able to order a replacement which is an amazing plus no a days. Really exceptional bang for the buck. Detailed review: This is my second set of the 1700s I've purchased. First set was/is for my primary entertainment room... TV and Turntable. This set is fantastic for this purpose. The sound is quite solid and responsive. As I listen to lots of vinyl I wanted to be able to hear the imperfections in the sound, due to dust and age of the media... these definitely provided what I needed. The low end hits well and carries as needed. The mid-range sounds good for this price range, and the highs fill a large room easily. These speakers are quite sufficient for all ranges of movie/theater listening. They are not going to blow your socks off with explosions, but will greatly enhance your home theater for a minimal budget. During COVID-19 my wife and daughter started working out in the home so I set up a home gym. These monitors fit the bill perfectly. Small real estate, big sound and easily hooked up. Speaking of... To hook these up from the box only takes about 5 minutes. 1. Unbox (2 speakers, 1 ten foot speaker connection cable, 2 RCA audio cables (RCA to RCA/RCA to headphone jack) 2. Place both speakers at you choice of location (no more than probably 7 feet apart) 3. Connect speakers to each other with supplied cable 4. Plug in RCA Cable to your device (2 device inputs available) 5. Plug in right speaker and power up. Note: Bluetooth connects easily (read directions if you are unfamiliar with the function). Audio controls on right side of right speaker are Volume, Bass and Treble. If the light on the control is green you are in "input" (RCA input) mode... if blue, you are in Bluetooth mode.

Got these at 30% off, and still feeling like it was not great value. The good: Solid build, well designed (footprint, layout of controls). People complain about the knobs, but they're fine; plasticky but don't wiggle on their posts. Sonic quality is certainly above a cheap bluetooth speaker, but nothing noticeably good vs. other speakers and monitors this size, regardless of price. The bad: flimsy, crappy remote, annoying over-packaging, and LOW VOLUME. These were put in 400 sq. foot room, and really don't reach a high volume. For example, I would not think these would be adequate for a living room theater set up. Conclusion: While these speakers have *good* sound quality, I don't think they're *better* sounding than similarly priced speakers. They are well made, and would be great for listening to music in a home office setting. They are acceptable, and a bit pricey.

I rarely leave reviews but these speakers deserve one. First off to give a little perspective I rarely venture outside of Klipsch products. I have plenty of experience with all sorts of high end audio equipment from B&O to reference HK, NAD receivers, so on and so forth... so my amazement with these speakers is not due to never hearing any high end equipment. So why did I even take a chance with these? My little sister wanted a record player setup so I got her an Audio Technica LP60 to start her beginner setup. I wanted a pair of bookshelf speakers for a clean setup and I wanted the speakers to be powered so she didn't need to mess with an amp. That ruled out the Klipsch bookshelf speakers at this price point and unfortunately I couldn't use the Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 system (best bang for my buck of all time, have had them for over 10 years now) as it has a separate sub and too many cables for it to be attractive with her setup. Aesthetically, these are knockouts considering the price point.The fit and finish is excellent, they have a healthy weight to them and no one would suspect that this isn't real wood. I personally very much like the look with the speaker grills off. It presents itself as a speaker pair only acquired with a higher budget. The important part - sound. They blew me away when I first set them up. They are bright, distortion free and have a surprising amount of bass. In fact, even though I am normally a bass fanatic these satisfy me in nearly every genre of music outside of EDM. They do run out of steam when playing Odesza for example but it is not a bad sound, the mid just starts to pull away and take over. Also, these things can get LOUD. More importantly, there is very little distortion up until max and the separation in instruments/vocals remain. I do not know how many this will help but as I am typing this review I have the speakers sitting directly beside my Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 system. It has been a gold standard for me for over a decade in terms of price vs. performance and while this is not exactly apples to apples (2.0 to 2.1) it may provide some relative insight for similarly priced often computer speaker systems. The Klipsch sounds bigger as if a wider sound stage but this may be largely due to the powered subwoofer. Obviously, the Klipsch wipes the floor in terms of bass performance because of the sub and with the horns in the speakers it does often sound a bit brighter. The Edifier however consistently sounds warmer and a bit tighter. When comparing the two systems side by side the real determining factor is how much bass you need and/or if you need a bookshelf setup as with 95% of media they both perform beautifully. It is only in the bass heavy applications the similarly priced Klipsch system pulls ahead. Additionally, the bluetooth works very well and there is very little lag or interference. The range is great, too. All in all, for a pair of speakers I would have never even considered if it weren't for this budget system I am putting together, I am incredibly impressed. So much so that I may cheat on Klipsch and purchase Edifier's higher end bookshelf system and really see what this company is capable of.
