But the ice would melt and stick together. I would recommend turning ice maker portion off till freezer got up in temperature then turn ice on. That way it will not freeze ice together! Up date! This has been a nightmare! We bought this and installed it in our brand new kitchen remodel. We only used this for 5 months when it had an internal connection for the water hose fail and leaked all night long flooding our kitchen and finished downstairs basement. All the floors on both levels have to be taken up which also means our brand new BEAUTIFUL kitchen has to be disassembled. :(( Our base cabinets may be ruined (yet to be determined)... This simple internal part that failed is likely to total over $50,000 in repairs! DO NOT BUY THIS ICEMAKER!! Other remarks about its function... it does make ice very quickly, however, it produces quite a lot of heat when it is recovering a large ice load. Also, even at its lowest temperature setting, the ice is not very hard and melts very quickly. It's even hard to hold in your hands because it becomes so slippery due to the fact that it is barely frozen. Even without the leaking issue, I would not recommend this icemaker.

update: Edgestar is sending a new unit, excellent customer service that took me from a 1 star to 5 star. Original Post:This icemaker died after repeatedly defrosting on its own, we purchased under 1 year ago on Amazon, it worked well for 3 months then acted up regularly until it died. We only used it a handful of times as it is in a bar area used rarely. No way to return or get support to service unit. Would recommend purchasing these types of appliances from your a reputable store that can provide follow up service when needed.

Arrived damaged, repaired sheet metal and put a new "foot" on it but certainly fedex or ups usual crap, not the manufacturer. Unit is icing up after a month and Ive defrosted it once. This thing is ok if you are proned to entertaining, time will tell whether its worth de-icing every few weeks for regular use. No drain is huge though, I did not need another complication to go wrong at some point and flood the kitchen. Finish is as shown, nice looking unit and does make a lot of ice quickly.

We bought this in May of 2020. We really liked the features and the price. IIt worked well for about 7 months. We unhooked it for the summer, when we move to Colorado (from Texas). When we returned 3 months later, it would no longer make ice. Fan turns on, but freezer doesn't cool and no ice is produced. We had bought an Asurion Extended Warranty, but they would not service it. Luckily, they refunded the purchase price (less the tax) to us. We called several local repair companies, and no one services it. One claimed "Edgestar is cheap Chinese technology and never lasts." Now, we have to pay $75 to go dump it since it is considered hazardous material. DON'T BUY FROM THIS COMPANY - It is junk.

The machine worked great until it broke. Pros: It generates a lot of ice quickly and keeps it coming. Installs in just a few minutes if you have everything ready to go. Cons: Durability. After 18 months, it stopped cooling and stopped generating any ice. Appears to be a leak in the system and has lost it's refrigerant. Standard warranty is only 12 months.

This ice maker is simple and easy to install. My refrigerator ice maker stopped as usual for Samsung. Instead of paying to repair it, I bought this ice maker. I disconnected the line for the fridge and used the port to hook up this ice maker. It came damaged but the seller made my issue right, without being a pain in the ask. It is in my basement rather than in my kitchen, but it is also a great improvement over my small ice maker. I have transferred ice from this machine to the ice bin in my kitchen at times for company. It does make ice and keep it frozen instead of letting the ice melt and re-freezing over and over. It's a glorified ice maker but if you need a larger capacity, like me, then I reccomend this.

Absolute made in china junk. Literally quit working 366 days after purchase. $1000 bucks flushed down the drain. Disposable junk. Back to buying bag ice from the store.....Yay! I hope trumps tariffs force this stuff to be made in the USA again....maybe I can get more than a year out of it then.
