I picked this model because the layout of our downstairs bar placed it away from a drain. It makes lots of ice fast. If you don't use it regularly, it frosts up and requires a defrost but overall I recommend it.

As of May 23rd 2023, this thing is dead. Just won't even power on anymore. Leaving the rest of the review as it was when I wrote it. But I would now simply pass on this one and move on. With the minor issues I had, I was ok with it, but now that it is completely dead after less than two years, no way I could recommend to anyone to get this particular unit. We have this installed and in use for about 6 months now. We use ice all day, every day. In addition to many beverages, both of our dogs have been trained using ice cubes as treats, so ice gets used up pretty fast. (to the dog thing our giant mastiff can handle the cubes from this machine, but the smaller dog gets ice from the built in one in our fridge, much smaller... just in case you are worried about them). Almost everything about this machine is good. Super easy to install, no drain needed, makes a ton of ice. Not loud or anything. The negatives are, as at least a few others mentioned, this thing ends up more or less freezing everything in it to a giant block except the most recent top layers. Once every few weeks I get too annoyed and dump the whole thing and defrost it. It's not a big deal, but it's annoying. The whole unit does frost up a bit from time to time around the ice maker too, but so far has not yet caused a problem. Sometimes you get a block of 2 to 8 "cubes" stuck together too. Can usually just bust those up with the scoop though. Now, going back to to the whole thing freezing into a block - it's absolutely true that when it gets too frozen up you WILL hurt yourself trying to get a few pieces out of the giant block of ice. That's usually the point I defrost it. We also replaced the plastic ice scoop that is shipped with it with a metal restaurant grade scoop. That helps, a little, with breaking up the ice, but not enough - and note, you obviously can't store that inside the machine. Would I buy it again? Probably not, but I'm also not going to replace it anytime soon unless it dies on me. I gave it a 3 out of 5. It's probably a 3.5, but it's few problems are enough of a problem at this price point to have me rounding down, not up on my star rating. At half the cost I would have given it a solid 4, but at this price point, no way.

The lower grill at the bottom of the icemake came in bent. Assume it was bent during shipping. I straigthened out the dented grill and reinstalled it. Look ok but you can tell it is damaged if you look closely. Icemake works great.

We have used this product for two years. It is great at making ice, however, it frosts up after a few weeks or sooner to the extent that I must defrost the unit and start ice making all over. And, as with numerous other reviews, if you do not use all of the ice, the bottom 2/3 of the ice is frozen into a solid block of ice. Again, I empty the bin and start ice making all over.

The first unit I received looked like it was literally dropped off the UPS truck. Return/Replacement process was simple after providing pictures of the damage to shipping container/product. Unfortunately it wasn't going to fit where I originally wanted to put it (my fault) so it did sit in the box for a few months until I had my kitchen extension completed so this turned out to be a more expensive project but I got a high capacity ice maker and more kitchen storage! I had the unit professionally installed only because they were here installing a new water line for it and the plumbers didn't have any issues with set up. I also had a 10k gallon water filter installed so the ice tastes perfect! We've been using it for 3 months at this point and have no complaints. We did learn early on that we can't let it make ice to capacity in the winter or we'll end up with a block of ice at the bottom (as others have stated). So we make what we need and lift up the bar to stop ice production. Put the bar back down and it quickly makes more ice. This works for us. The capacity has been great for water bottles for sports and coolers for trips as well as normal daily use. I know in the summer we'll appreciate it even more! My fridge ice maker capacity/production is pathetic which is why our family needed this. I haven't bought a bag of ice since having this installed. I was deciding between this an a less expensive counter top unit and I'm 100% happy I went with this unit. Hopefully it will have a long life!

This ice maker is simple and easy to install. My refrigerator ice maker stopped as usual for Samsung. Instead of paying to repair it, I bought this ice maker. I disconnected the line for the fridge and used the port to hook up this ice maker. It came damaged but the seller made my issue right, without being a pain in the ask. It is in my basement rather than in my kitchen, but it is also a great improvement over my small ice maker. I have transferred ice from this machine to the ice bin in my kitchen at times for company. It does make ice and keep it frozen instead of letting the ice melt and re-freezing over and over. It's a glorified ice maker but if you need a larger capacity, like me, then I reccomend this.
