I ordered this product mostly for indoor climbing to replace my ATC device. It feels very secured with good locking and easy to use (after short adjustment period shifting from the ATC device). Overall, it's match the expectation. Defiantly recommend to buy!! But... to be rigorous, the cons that I found are: 1. There might be a situation where the auto-lock fails not work properly. The lock FG carabiner help to avoid it, so it's very rare... so NEVER release the rope! 2. It can be tricky to lower a climber because the rope can touch the fingers while releasing the rope and that can be hot... 3. The Carabiner screw is missing a mark to indicate whether it look or not ... show more

Love this thing. Super intuitive and easy to use if you're used to a standard ATC. It can be catchy when lowering/abseiling if you're using a thicker rope, but it's very smooth on my 9.5mm rope. Only thing to watch out for is that since it's pretty small and made of steel, it gets HOT when lots of rope passes through it. ... show more

Works as advertised. Down side of this thing is that it is a bit catchy when you repel with it. Even when you use it upside down to stop the auto lock function you have to kind of feed rope into it while you repel, especially if you have a ton of hanging rope below you. I use it though

I saw one of my climbing buddies with a mega-jul and was fascinated. It has replaced my gri-gri, saving weight - while offering same flexibility. The carabiner ensures proper locking and prevents cross-loading. The mega-jul has become my goto device. Outstanding!

Very good! More versatile than an ATC or Pilot. Feels very secure. Although the MegaJule is a little grabby when belaying compared to those said devices. Great set overall!

    • Working great
This belay device is working great for me at the gym. I find it nice on the auto locking feature as well. I was concerned this one could not belay a climber as fast as a normal tube device. I was pleasantly surprised with the control and comfortable speed range.
