When I first received my blankets I could not believe how warm and comfortable they were. I actually purchased two of them a large one and a smaller one. I expected the pile from the blanket to shed off in the washer but it did not. These blankets hold their integrity and have not shed in the four months or so I have owned them. That being said they have shrunk a little. So please buy the larger size and please wash in cold or lukewarm water or they are really going to shrink on you. I happen to be petite at 5'1" (61 inches), and so this blanket is actually a perfect size for me. I can be reading or watching TV with it, or laying down on a bed or the sofa and it covers me completely, but if I were taller than I could only use it for a lap blanket. It's beautiful, cozy, and the right degree of warmth. It would make a great gift as it looks more expensive than it is. I have not washed it yet, so I can't speak to that part.
