As the product description states, this is not a pool heater. Which has its pros (saves energy!) and cons (takes a few hours to raise water temps). I purchased the up to 2,000 gallon model for a 1,000 gallon pool. And at first I was using the standard filter pump that the pool came with. I quickly realized that I needed a bigger filter pump in order to maximize the water running through the heat pump. Let me tell you it’s been the best investment for this years California summer. Temperatures haven’t been extremely hot so without the heat pump the water temps were around 75 degrees F. During a sunny day it’s fine but at night it can get very uncomfortable. Fortunately, this heat pump works and I’ve managed to get my pool to 92 degrees F in 80-85 degree weather during the day and 70-65 degrees at night. I definitely recommend this heat pump (make sure you purchase the right model for your swimming pool size). ... show more

    • Expert installer could not get it to work.
Unfortunately, my excitement of having heated water for my exercise pool. in the colder months - is not going to be a reality with this product. I purchased in October and due to a tragic death in family- my expert handymen pool person was unable to install just recently. But the hose on bottom was leaking and after many hours of trial and Errror and trying to solve the issue- it was still leaking. I had to have it un installed and now am out the almost 700.00 for this product. ... show more

I have a 750 gallon stock tank pool and this thing works good for me. It takes a few hours (it’s summer in alabama) to heat it up to 90 degrees. You can feel the warm water coming out. Does not kick on by itself like others have said from what I can tell. There is a setting for it but mine doesn’t kick on after it reaches temperature. I just turn it on with my sand pump and let them run for a few hours before I swim. This unit would struggle on a pool any bigger. It would have to run nonstop with your pump. Works though for smaller pools and uses very little energy. Also if you have a bigger pump and hoses, the adapters don’t fit. I have an Intex sand filter with 1.5 inch hoses and I had to go to home Depot and use pvc adapters to reduce the size down to 1 inch. The female holes on the warmer were 1inch and the adapters are meant for the small and cheap cartridge pumps with flimsy little hoses. ... show more

Overall I was impressed with the price to performance on this unit but unfortunately there was a pretty bad internal leak and needs to be returned. Another issue was the barbed hose connectors. These kind of connectors are good for soft hoses but almost all above ground pools use hard plastic hoses. I had a little drip leak from the connectors at first, until I took them off and added a ton of Teflon tape around the barbs to help with sealing. I would recommend adding Teflon tape to the barbs from the start. I'm going to order the next model up as a replacement as this unit was just on the edge for my temperature zone. ... show more

I bought this heat pump for our small pool (827gal) and it works great. Keeps the pool at 90deg all day. The only gripe I have is I wish after sensing the pump was off (low flow) that once the pump turned on the heat pump would restart. It does not, you have to cycle power. To get around this there is a setting that once the power is cycled it will auto start. As long as the pump and heater are on the same timer you will have no issue but seems a simple software change could fix this and simplify the install. Overall it's money well spent after wasting money on a solar heater... I paired this with a Birtechway 13" 2853 GPH pump and used filter balls instead of sand. Love it! ... show more

    • Pretty good but the bottom seems to leak.
Update 10/09/2023 - Support helped me get it working. Update 10/08/2023 - completely stopped working. Ordered a replacement and the screen doesn't work. Update: 10/03/2023 - plummer's tape seems to have resolved the leak. This product does work. Although the bottom connection seems to leak and we're not sure how to fix it. ... show more

I bought this for my 15x42' Intex pool... I should have went a size up, but didn't want to spend more money. It's done a pretty decent job.. my pool water temperature was at 69° & once I hooked up the heater it raised the water temperature to 77° in less than a day. It's not freezing, but it's not warm.. to me it's comfortable! For a smaller pool I imagine it would warm the water up past 80° no problem! I think it's a good product. ... show more
