It is recommended that you connect the water heater with a pump of at least 1.5HP (1.1KW) power.The diameter of the water pipe you use should be 1.5in(38mm) for a smooth flowing.

Watch the video review for hookup. There are 3 red wires labeled together but only use the two on the right side. If you use all three your breaker will trip. Also use the two blacks labeled together for the other hot, then of course the ground. This is for 240V installation. Works for now. Inexpensive, checking the internal wiring is fairly easy. Must have 6ga 3 wire cable from a 50a 220v connection. The slip connectors ID that were included do fit the OD of std 1 1/2” sched 40 PVC. Then easy to use a 1 1/2” to 2” slip adapter for std 2” sched 40 PVC most pool systems use. It’s 11kW, so it has two 5.5kW heating elements. For 220v US wiring from a pigtail you must connect the two large gauge wires (actually 4 wires, but each element has a 110v line for 220v. It has no neutral wire, so on a GFCI circuit you cannot connect ground to its grounding location or you’ll toast it. Neutral goes to ground. If you touch ground to the unit you’ll trip the GFCI so no ground, neutral is grounded and the GFCI is working. It heated up well, and not sure why others say if the pump turns off the heater fails. My pump shut itself off by itself (even though it was on manual run after 24hrs). And the heater shut down as expected. I turned the pump back on after I noticed it shut off. The heater kicked back on, and it even held its temp settings. Perhaps others switched it off at the breaker, but it keeps settings when the switch on the unit is turned off. If shut off at the breaker that may lose settings. But it is still energized if the switch on the unit is off. For me, it’s been worth it for the price. The media could not be loaded. Directions are a little confusing. Needs a cfgi 50 Amp breaker. The two reds go to red and the two blacks go to the black do not hook up the white wire. Once connected unscrew cap on element to let air out or it will not work.

I replaced my original 11kw vevor heater bc the heat did not come on. Note that when you first turn on this heater the "Heat" light should flick on for a second- if not, it's probably defective like mine! Annoying to have to go through a bunch of pumps (etc) to figure out the heater was the fail. So... either know what you are getting in to or perhaps invest in a better brand. Though also note that "American Made" Coasts pool heaters use the same control board as this one does. ... show more

Heater does a good job. Maintains 85 degrees in a 18’ by 9’ by 52” pool. Installation pretty straight forward. You may need to visit local hardware store for some plumbing. Only reason I gave 4 stars is if you need to reset the temperature sensor, you have to remove the front panel and it’s right there. Overall, not a bad unit for the price. ... show more

Poor quality and craftsmanship. Performance and functionality issues from the very beginning, requiring multiple attempts to contact the seller for product support. Requests for a replacement were denied. Only 2 summers of use and it quit working entirely. Faulty, unreliable and definitely not worth the investment. Upon contacting for product and/or warranty support, just prior to its 2 year mark, the manufacturer stated that the heater had reached its "2 year shelf life", clearly indicating that they do not intend for it to function beyond that time frame.
